LORE

-The Engineer Corps, An academy of design and innovation.

A young goblyn stumbled upon this institution, and was adopted by the president at the time (Rogre). The goblyn dawned the name Leaf, honestly for no particular reason, and was immediately drawn to two weapons… double daggers.

The friends he made at the Engineer Corps, and his mentor, they all pleaded “Do not use it, it is so ass”. However these pleas were not heard, he yearned for the dagger, entranced by it.

After a year and a half of training (guided additionally by Metztli, Bolg (a phantom Metztli can summon), Astrid, & *ahem* A Pimp Named Bohemian Slim (Boat Slayer, Priest Vanquisher))

He had actually learned how to be okay enough that he was ready, ready for war.

He was sent off by Rogre to find his son who he knew would be there, and so Leaf went off looking for Mogre Freeman at...

-War 2024, where he found his brother.

Mogre and Leaf immediately bonded as inseparable allies.

Agreeing after the battle to go off and form…

-Westrot, a realm for all goblinoids and forest creatures.

The realm grew slowly, and one day Gribble The Goblyn arrived. Leaf and Gribble fell deeply in love and they got Goblyn married :)

One day two dwarfs entered the Westrot forest. The Goblyns, not being a fan of non-forest creatures, prepared a raid on them.

Yet as they ambushed these passersby, they were defeated.

The skill of the Nordic dwarf, paired with the blade created from the Germanic dwarf, was too much to handle even in numbers.

However, from this destructive battle a friendship and mutual respect was built between the two groups.

The new allies stated the purpose of their passage; Beorn was on a path to a battle, one of glory and intensity. Schmidt whispered ambitions of constructing the perfect blade, looking for a place to create his forge (agreeing Westrot would be a suitable location).

Leaf, Mogre, and two other Westrot members (Volk & Hermes) joined Beorn and they went off to…

-Scars and stripes, a battle bountiful in fun and in strong opponents…

One of which, a Florentine expert.

Unable to even scratch him, Leaf asked the name of this lizardman to which he held up his fist, a letter sketched onto four of his knuckles spelling, “Varg“.

He mentored Leaf briefly and taught him a few principles, this would not be the last time they would meet.

After a long day of battle the troop returned to Westrot, where Leaf was told that Gribble vanished.

Beorn assured him that his husband was off to the monster march, a gathering where all monsters unite against good. He vowed to take him there.

-Okfest 2025.

Upon arriving, the night began with copious amounts of gambling (and perchance slight inebriation) to which Leaf lost all of his wealth.

With no money and an empty stomach he was lucky to stumble upon Black Betty's campsite, who was giving out free food! DELICIOUS free food. With a full stomach he rested well, ready for the next day.

On the day of the monster march, hundreds of monsters gathered, it was truly beautiful. And even after the march, and an invigorating battle speech given by Banjax… as the dust settled there was still no sign of Gribble.

Leaf knew something was wrong, his heart sank and it was filled with darkness.

An era of visionless fighting began.

He finished his time at Oktoberfest hunting down a Hydra (and losing), and battling deep into the night (participating in night fighting).

-WAR 2025, aimless.

He showed up just to kill, rage still in heart. No preference for a side or team.

And as he fought, he continually lost. Running into Varg again, and still, unable to even touch him.

He wasn’t strong enough. He was never strong enough. If he was, maybe he could have been there for Gribble.

Defeated, he went to…

-Return to The Engineer Corps, tired of being weak, and motivated to grow.

If he was to become as strong as he desired, he would need to reach his physical peak, perfect his technique, and design a dagger kit so optimized to his particular fighting style it would overcome his short range weakness.

Beorn swore not to leave Leaf's side till they found his husband, he and the friends of The Engineer Corps (Crockett, Newport, The Nameless, Texas, Dusk the Flametree, Pi'erre, & Paradox) assured Leaf that Gribble was out there.

Now collected, his training with The Engineer Corps pivoted. His goal: to become strong enough to face anything. Anything that would prevent him from obtaining his goal. In this clarity, Leaf even realized he had stashed a mysterious key from the hydra's lair in his glove. How queer.

Alongside training, as he slept, visions of the perfect dagger were revealed to Leaf. He spoke to Newport, a kobold whose ability to make janky ass weapons might be just what he needed (jokes aside, this kobold is very talented).

-Wolfpack Opener 2026.

Many months has passed since training. The first prototype of Leaf's "Boundless Daggers" was designed, now being forged by Newport. And the "Leaf's Principles of Dagger Fighting" book was also in the early phases of creation. [I will share a link when digitized & completed].

Leaf arrived to Wolfpack Opener, ready to test his theories & improve upon them (but more-so in hopes to find Gribble).

After a day filled with good battles and dueling some new friends; Leaf, was still humbled. (Befriending: Rags, Farzu & Silo. Having met Farzu & Silo before at past events).

Yet, Leaf had a revelation. He realized even if he isn't the best in a 1v1, or the front lines of a line fight, he could still greatly contribute in ways only he could. He could quickly grab arrows for archers, flank, catch spears in frontlines, or be re-con. He still yearns to become strong, however he is okay with not being it at this moment.

-Olympics 2026.

IT'S GRIBBLE I SEE HIM!!!! HE IS SITTING ON THE FLOOR LIKE A CUTIE PATOOTIE LOOKING AT HIS TRINKETSSSS!!!!!!!!

Sorry, back to third person... It turns out Gribble had just gotten lost for a few months. Once he realized he couldn't find Leaf around him, he deducted Leaf must be below him. So he dug a tunnel down, which ended up leading to Mictlán.

For some context... the Mictlán people and Leaf are homies. If Beorn (member of Mictlán) didn't vow to stick with Leaf till they found Gribble... The next time he visited he would have realized Gribble was at Mictlán. Additionally, Gribble never mentioned he knew Leaf or was looking for him (He is a simple goblyn), and Mictlán wasn't in contact with Leaf as Leaf was busy searching or training.

But regardless Leaf and Gribble were united! And not only that, but Newport had finished forging Leaf's key dagger! (Pretty much just a hatchet not going to lie).

With his husband back, and his newly attuned magic item, It would take some form of other-wordly ritual to ruin this day!

-The Chaos Gauntlet

Presented before Leaf, was four drinks and A Pimp Named Bohemian Slim (Boat Slayer, Priest Vanquisher)™. Each drink, its own title.

"Slaanesh, Nurgle, Khorne, and Tzeentch", in order... the gods of "Pain and Pleasure", "Plague and Disease", "Blood and War", "Confusion and Trickery".

Beside him, his homies of Westrot (Beorn, Mogre, Volk). He looked at them, uncertain if this would be the last time. His Goblyn senses were going crazy, but there was no world he wouldn't go through this with his boys.

However, after taking a shot of each he survived! Inebriated, he went to night fighting with gribble and introduced Varg to Gribble. On his way back he saw all of his homeboys following around the fae Queen (Riswynn Desvanas) like little baby ducklings. Leaf was worried but knew they were exactly where they wanted to be.

The next day began with a trip to the market, and a Goblyn begging bowl acquired from Chase The Myth (A worthy investment). Wandering through town, Leaf ran into a fae who casually greeted him. Leaf inquired who this stranger was and was introduced to Jangles. Volk (very inebriated from the Chaos Gauntlet) accidentally sold his soul to the fae queen… transforming into a fae jester.

Regardless they both met up with the rest of the westrot troop available (Gribble, Mogre, Moya, Hermes) to partake in field battles. After getting squished by the larger realms it was time for the tournaments. Leaf ran into Rags and they agreed to team up for the duo tournament. They may have lost but Leaf hit a sick clip. Timestamped link: https://youtu.be/53oVP59NjtA?t=838

After that, an emotional advancement ceremony for his boy Beorn, and free food via the Goblyn Begging Bowl… it was time for the Mongolian Wrestling. Of all his friends only Mogre Freeman dared enter, and daring he was; for he was paired against sir Alistair Glassridge! The two muscular giants honorably fought and ended with Mogre just barely ending victorious. Yet, for his second round with Solanum (worn from the prior) he suffered major injuries. An organ transplant was the only thing that could save him. However, whose heart would be large enough to replace that of an ogre?

The nameless, a strong warrior never given a name as none could fit. He felt his days of fighting were coming to a close and donated all of his organs. Mogre was saved! Yet, a great loss was found on that day.

The night concluded with Bardic. Songs were sung, stories were told, and laughs were shared. Gribble and Leaf headed to bed early, calmed by the fire and ready to make sweet love to Beorn's sea shanty.

-GOTC 2026. Mogre Freeman was dead.

His very well timed and advancedly structured joke led to him getting shot after bardic.

The loss of a brother and friend was too much for Leaf to bear; However, in his lowest moments Wiz, a member of Mictlán, told Leaf of a gathering… a magical one. One with powerful sorcerers, wizards, and entities that could perchance bring back his fallen allies. A risky gamble.

And so Leaf and Gribble left Olympics, and embarked on a new journey; traveling with Wiz and his brother Pastor Ripper, they were off to GOTC.

Upon arrival Gribble & Leaf set up their tent and then split up, Gribble yearned to quest whereas Leaf needed information. As Leaf explored he ran into many magical fae (Siege, Risto, Riswynn Desvanas) all of which tried to steal his name! EEK. And although scary… after getting to know them, found them all to be very sweet! Siege even succeeded but gave it back. After a trip through the magical market (with a few trinkets bought from Danny beans) Leaf ended up at the bar… which would you guess, was magical too!

Leaf took a seat and was offered a mana potion. The bartender, Thanix, told funny jokes and tales of his many familiars. After some time, a stranger appeared; He challenged Thanix to exchange their strongest drinks… pulling out a bottle filled with clear fluid. The air itself became stiff as the area became tense, Leaf nor anyone at the bar dared even whisper. Thanix slowly pulled out from under the table a bottle of black glowing ooze. Leaf was informed by someone throwing up in the bathroom earlier that this was the infamous “Potion of Death”. They both took a swig of each other's concoctions and the stranger simply said, I quote, “I think I’m done” and wobbled off (never to be seen again?? SCARY).

With the Mana potion finished, Leaf was inebriated and full of energy! He ran off to find Gribble to inform him Bardic was happening soon. And as his hubby performed, Leaf made sure to cheer extra loud for his beautiful singing. (Although all the stories and songs were wonderful).

After the bardic, Leaf (inebriated), somehow found himself in the tavern taking Bolg's place in a game of “Hell Uno”. Now you may ask, “What are the rules to such a game?” and I answer you… gameplay wise, I don’t think there are any. Yet! There is ONE rule to Hell Uno:

If you are to ever leave the game without finishing it, or finding someone to take your place, Rott the Demon takes claim to your soul. The game before this one lasted 10 hours. Howbeit, anticlimactically the game ended with an instant win by Risto, resulting in Rott vanishing into a puff of smoke (his only lead on resurrection gone). With the game concluded Leaf was able to return safely to nest with Gribble.

The next day began with field battles, field battles containing a lot of wizardary shenanigans (Leaf was handed a throwable fireball). Post Field battles, Leaf & Gribble went for a dip at the lake and then went sailing. A Siren tried to get them, taking the form of what the listener desired most. For Leaf, it was Gribble! However, he knew there couldn’t be two, and that Gribble prefers to sing country not the Halo theme. Gribble was simply tone deaf.

Afterwards, Gribble & Leaf begged for food (as goblyns do) and were fed in exchange for cleaning. They were also paid gold coins for their efforts. The final thing before the auction/night was the…

-Pits of Chaos Tournament.

At dusk, Leaf was a few mana potions deep when the bartender informed him the Pit was happening soon! Leaf was personally escorted by him, and Thanix said to the wizards hosting the pits something along the lines of “Give him the old school pits” (Death Sentence). Then, returned to his bar.

At this point, being a wobbly little guy… this didn't seem like the best idea. Though, somehow, Leaf fought and kept getting daggers to fight with! Two of his fights he was given daggers, one was a challenge to find a skull (finding Bolg's skull on Mētzi instantly), and before he was even aware… had made it to the finals.

Regardless, Leaf was uncertain… He was tired (being additionally summoned for Beorn's then Eden’s fight) and he was losing it (maybe having accepted a fireball™ from wiz). His boyfriend and the friends near him were against him doing anymore. Jager even stepped in, telling the wizards no more alcohol for the Gobbo (I truly appreciate it, I would have thrown up).

Yet, Leaf couldn’t give up now. He arose from the ground, puppeteered by determination. His friends cheered for him, he was empowered via Wiz and the mana potions, and to top it off a wizard manifested out of thin air and said “I bless you with my magical staff” (the staff being a bunch of beer cans taped together). Leaf had to do this. As the Peggle Board of Fate decided the challenge “crowd choice” Gribble started chanting “DAGGER”. Leaf's friends joined in, which made him feel very happy & supported. And so it was a battle of daggers.

The little twink goblyn boy stood before Persius, a bigger muscular man. The challenge was to hold pickle juice in your mouth (Leaf loves pickles), and if you were to spit it out you would lose (thanks again Jager). The fight began with grappling and slammings onto the ground, Leaf was knocked out of bounds and spat. However, it was argued by the people nearby he spat after the fight was called off for getting out of bounds/hitting a pole. Leaf, exhausted, was then summoned for round two. He had no idea why there was a rematch, he heard only his heartbeat during fighting and thought he lost. Yet, he was told to fight, and wasn’t going to let down his friends. And so he fought again, in his underwear (essential to the story), grappling a grown man and a fierce warrior. The fight ended, and Leaf was… somehow victorious!

Leaf stood up, threw his bra into the audience, and jumped into his man's arms. For his Victory he was given gold, which when combined with the gold from questing and donations (via people moved by Leaf’s battles & Gribble’s charms)…. was almost 3000 coins. Realistically, if played right they could have bought everything on the auction table. Howmstever, when the goblin couple got some cups, bowls, and pouches (we are goblyns, only a little greedy) they gave the rest of the funds to Eden who disturbed the wealth to make sure everyone got what they wanted (thank you).

The night ended with restful sleep and a new title (dubbed via weasel): Leaf of the Drunken Dagger.

-Westrot. Home at last.

Leaf & Gribble were finally home. Yet, It was a lot lonelier in Westrot. The forest of Westrot is unforgiving, of the westrot troop only 37% remained: Leaf, Gribble, Beorn, Percy, Moya, Hermes & Schmit (Jangles alive, but joining the fae courts).

As the couple returned, Moya informed them he found something in the woods. Leaf was led to a cave that, within, had a thick sealed door. The only discernible way to unlock this door was a keyhole adjacent. Strangely enough, seemingly the same size as the key stolen from the hydras layer…

Leaf put in the key, and was surprised to see the heavy doors open slowly. Leaf was greeted by a cold gust of wind, and a stiff corpse who once clawed at the entrance from the other side. Before them was an ancient buried temple.

Leaf returned with the remainder of the troop, descended the many dangerous floors, and was inspired to make a ceremony involving the levels to test new Westrot members. (More detailed lore documented in the westrot lore section). The temple seemed to be constructed to guard treasure. Yet the only thing in the treasure room, aside from a mimic they befriended and named nibbles, was a corpse hand stuffed in a glove.

Upon touching it, Bolg manifested. He looked around, searching for the reason he was summoned; then noticing the troop. He peered down at Leaf, giving an expression of “Oh. It’s you”. Westrot now had a Bolg Corpse Part! Leaf was still curious however… Who had discovered the temple, cleared its levels, put Bolg's hand in the treasure room, and hid the key to the temple under a hydras layer? And for what reason? Regardless, Bolg was now going to be summoned anytime Leaf needed to reach something high.

-Armageddon.
