How Moines became a Duragh and Found their New Home

Moines, a pagan druid, found themselves traveling with The Great Heathen Army. They did well keeping their druidy a secret and avoiding persecution for quite a while. Moines was able to tend to their wounded and create medicines that made them stronger. These warriors, in turn, taught Moines the way of the blade. Moines hunted beside them, cooked their meals, and enjoyed the protection of their sheildmates. However, one can only hide their true nature for so long before suspicions arrive. After awhile, there were whispers of "witch" amongst the ship. While hunting one day, Moines would find themselves as the hunted. One of the Freemen had speared them through the back and convinced a small fraction of these Vikings to break away from the Great Heathen Army. They tied up Moines by the spear in the forest and attempted to burn her alive. What happened next is unclear. Some say the forest Gods intervented, turning Moines into nature itself and granting them an undying life. Others say much like the Nordic sorceress Gullvieg, Moines continously resserected themself while the forest burned around them and used their Magick to survive. Regardless of what you believe, what we do know is that what stands now is something not quite human and not quite animal; something not quite alive and not quite dead. Moines grew horns from their head, tree bark from their limbs, and was filled with a sense of purpose to protect the very trees they were tethered to. They spent some time tending to the burnt land and laying to rest the creatures that perished in the burn. Moines turned their bones into tools and their furs into fashion. No creature would be senselessly murdered and left without a purpose in their presence ever again. Moines grew weary of humans and their destructive nature, they spent many years in solitude where they did not even utter a word to another living soul.

Some years later, during their travels, Moines stumbled into a coven of witches. They spent time with The Coven learning how their magic had changed. Moines learned to navigate undeath and grew to view themself as transformed for the better. It was during this time that Moines found themselves traveling to the Realm known as Mictlán. Here, Moines found trolls, magic users, dwarves, and humans all coexisting in peace. The humans in this place were like none they had ever met before. They were not destructive. They regarded life with the utmost respect and were committed to doing good, recklessly. After all the destruction, turmoil, and chaos in Moines life--they finally found a place that felt like home. Moines not only began to speak, but also started speaking up. They practiced their magick freely and enjoyed spending time with living beings again. Moines has presently returned to healing others and crafting, with a newfound purpose to continue to do good, recklessly, themselves.
