You must first become Awakened.

This script provides the wherre, wisdoms and wicked arts of what the underworld could not hold in its belly and has retched out. It is the story how some worthy souls are able to claw away from the permanence of death. It is a witness to the fulfilment of prophecy and a peek into the reliquary of the deepest Hobben paths. It is testement to the events that will usher in the next age.

Count these words as steps which bind you to the mist.

And from the mist to form...

Hobben Proverb

Description

Hobgoblyns are the earthen representations of Phobettus, God of nightmares. They are a broody and an aggressively creative race. They are agents of their lost diety and often disconnected to the world around them. Hobs are often distracted by what crawls inside each of them. Hobgoblyns fit easily into the wide range of monster races. They are taller than Goblins and shorter than Bugbears. Their skin is usually any earthen tone but they may paint themselves or apply tattoos to better integrate into their chosen monsterly broods.

Most Hobs exhibit beastly adornment on their body that reflect an instance within their early lifecycle. These can be can be any number of apparatus but can include: horns or antlers on the head, tusks as teeth, claws on the hands or armour plating on the body. They are known to have bristles or hairy patches on their body such as along the forearms and they have tufts of hair on the broad areas of their shoulders what is known as a "mantle".

A telling characteristic of Hobs is their legs which have serrated tibias. Their shins are covered to prevent accidental maiming of others and to keep nicknames like "Saw shanks" and "Fur shins" minimized. They have extended metatarsals and can walk on their balls of their feet quite comfortably.

They are usually described by their peers as menacing and variable. Their garments and gear are enhanced by the most powerful magicks manifested on the physical plane. They are described by both the fair and the monster races alike to be the boogeymen/fen and are the beings that most races mention in stories to scare their younglings with.

Character

To other contemporary monster races, the presence of a Hobgoblyn can evoke both a confidence in their inherent martial or magickal abilities but also a worry about what they might do next. They are prone to the effects of otherworldly connections and exhibit behaviours that most around them usually find odd or confusing. From their daily rituals such as "to dig in deep" to a penchant for a variety of chants and incantations, they are complex and volatile members even for the standards in the ranks of monsterdom. They are well read but can be frantic. They are steady fighters but can be prone to charge into the enemy without warning.

The Hobben character is often misunderstood. They may seem like they are distracted or aloof, but this is most likely symptom of the experience of walking their own unique Hobben path. Hobgoblyns are designed and created to fulfil a prophecy. Each plays their own unique part that they discover as they begin to understand the whispers from beyond their understanding and enter the sixth of seven Hobgoblyn Lifecycles.

Goals

The versatility of Hobgoblyns makes them an invaluable asset to the Horde. They can be deployed as shock troops, skirmishers, as part of a shield wall, as archers, they exude magick arts and actively curse enemies with every intended movement and sound. Every Hobgoblyn has their own individual goals since every hob have uniquely specific paths to follow. Saying this, the paths they take are almost always aspire to ensure that the Hobben Prophecy is brought about and they are particularly protective of their goblyn compatriots. As grunts, they fight with fierce dedication to their leaders. As leaders, they command with undying loyalty to their charges.

The Hobben Path (11=2)

The Hobgoblyn creation map

The Hobgoblyn race has complex characteristics that encourage deep diving into characterization and monsterly expression. Hobgoblyn lore runs deep and will take some time to absorb. To assist newcomers to Hobben character creation I have provided an easy to follow and comprehensive guide to help one get started and to become at long last awakened!

The map is a checklist of sorts to help our Terka'd understand the order of the awakening and the constituent parts that make a Hob connected to the material plane and a completely individualised Hobben persona.

1. The Name as a Scream.

First, you must select a name. This is a simple task but also profound in its halmark as an identifier and is the sound made as a sleeping monster wakes from a nightmare and brings your essence finally out of the mist. Note: If your name has a "S" sound in its pronunciation it will have implications later as you travel among those that utter it.

Every Hobben name is also a Hobben word (or series of words). It is highly encouraged for new Hobs to add to the extensive Hobben vocabulary (see The Vexicon below) through the addition of their new Hobben name.

2. The First Stitch and The Work

All monsters dress in garb and have their own form of fashioning it but for Hobs it is has intended meaning and significance. Since we have been pulled from the under world there must be powerful magics that bind us to the material plane. These magics begin with Hobben rituals known as "The First Stitch" and are continued with "The Work" Also known as the Tsarak-yyll.

The First Stitch is a ritual or symbolic act that represents the moment that our form becomes bound to the land we will fight in and explore. This act will require a needle that has been threaded. First tie a knot in the thread. Then make a stitch in the knot. And then repeat this stitch seven times. "For each stitch is seven" and it is done! This is your first stitch of many many more. This magical stitching in Hob-speak is called "Cunn'anannt" This stitching is to be on Every visible seam that holds Every patch of material that makes a Hobs garments. A formal First Stitch ritual is available to those who are interested in deep role-play.

The Work as it is called is really just another way of saying creating great garb. Hobgoblins are bound to this plane with patches of garb (and the remains of their enemies) and sewn together with Cunn'anannt stitching. Creating your garb will be an ongoing process as you add layers and continue to add character and depth to your Hobben identity. Hobben garb is meant to exude complexity, character history, intimidation and menace.

Hobgoblyn Garb Identifiers:

The Mantle. The mantle is a covering on the shoulders and/or on the back that are covered with bristles, fur or feathers.

The Shtulk-Khep. This is Chainmail or otherwise metal links that cover the groin.

Hobben Greaves. Most Hobs will wear protection around their shins. Not to protect themselves, but to protect others from their shins. This is because the tibia bones of a Hob are serrated and very sharp. It is said that this is from the ascension walk from the other side. The greaves might be made of leather, hide or other rigid material.

Hobgoblins can fill every role on the field of battle and so will be equipped to reflect this. Everything else relating to your Tsarak-yyll will be up to your preference and affinity.

3. Select your Kussts

This is the selection of your Kussts type. These will act as the foundation of your primal fighting drive. The Kussts are any Plague insect like the Locust, Mormon Cricket or the Cicada. These insects live inside their Hobben host and are the reason that all Hobs wear chain mail or wire mesh over the groin. The sturdy material keeps the Kussts from tearing away and victimizing those that the Hobgoblyn will band and fight along side. One of the many reasons other monsters have something to fear when a Hobgoblyn is around.

4. Select Your Speaking Beetle.

This is the selection of your Ghoor'Shu. This animal is also the Guardian of the Kussts and acts as a messenger for you. This animal will be an beetle that can fly great distances. This animal should be truly special and its selection be treated reverently.

5. Select Your Primary Animal

This is the selection of the beast of your first hunt or Kabhal. This animal will be special as it will "mark" you with some of its characteristics and abilities. It will also imbue your Hobben form with its animal apparatus. An example might be the selection of a deer. This would over time as you evolve give grace to your movements as a deer has. It might also in the case of a deer give you antlers that start to grow. Additionally, you will have the eyes of the animal you select. This is the act that allows you to see in this plane and follow the paths of it. This description is revealed in the 4th sub cycle of the Hobben Lifecycle known as "Unbinding Fear" and the 5th sub cycle of the Hobben Lifecycle known as "The First Kabhal".

6. Select Your Attratus

This is a selection of your bird of carrion. This bird will follow your arc and even become a part of you during an important stage of a Hob's life as it dies above the hollow that you will dig and is absorbed into your shoulders. This act is where we get the sub cycle name of "Mantling" as the bird will cover you first with bristles and then plume and become like a mantle on your shoulders as you mature in Hobben form during the sixth lifecycle. This bird may be buzzard or vulture, condor, carrion crow or similar.

7. Select Your Earthly Make

This is the selection of your primal particles. You must select 7 elements (periodic) and 7 minerals. These will reflect the parts of the crust of the earth that have bonded to make your form. And they will be the particles represented in the iconography and personalized sigil of your Hobben Heptagon of the Ground.

Note: Some of these tasks may seem tedious at a glance but they set the basis of what separates us from the chaff. "There is no prize without struggle"

A good "in-game" overview of what a Hobs focus and systemic Hobben factors that will help you understand the life of this race, go to "Mantling" the 6th cycle of "The Hobben Lifecycle".

Role Playing

A well played Hobgoblyn can be more of a physical factor than any bugbear, have more dark insight than any witchdoctor and can create more spectacle than any pre-molted snotling. Strength of charactarization is formed on foundations of how you identify as a Hobgoblyn. From your selection of a name to Hobben vocalizations to your many layers of garb. These all help create believability and assist in emersion. This page is full of insight and is designed to assist you to incorporate the "That Within" that is inside you into your awakened Hobben form. Do your mantle justice. Ddraven'yy'keshyyn.

Hobs are not the same as the limitless tides of greenskin masses that will swarm around them. We are on particular paths and serve more than goblin amygdalin processes. Even though we work closely with the "brood" and have participant roles in the culture and the societal tides of them, our path is resolutely ours. And this is for very good reasons.

Hobben Anatomy and Artifice

There are Seven Points on a hobs form that are divinal and important to their lifecycle processes. The list below are how they appear on the body in order starting inferior (bottom of the feet) and will end Superior (top of the head).

The Heptagon of the Ground- This is called by a Hob its "shadow". Located on the bottom of the feet and is presented under the Hob along the ground. It is a living sigil with seven sides and angles that have been imbued with the Hobs unique earthen make-up of elements and minerals and other prime constituents. It was manifested during the Alchemy in the Hollow and appears under the Hob as an ever present and deep shadow. This shadow has weight and mass as if it were a physical object. This weight increases as the Hob fulfill unholy providence and is directly proportional to their victims attributable worth.

The Shtulk- This is the center for a Hobs primal fighting energy and is the home of The Cloud. It is located in the area that lies just behind the sexual organ and in the hollow of the pelvic cavity. There are 343 living insects that inhabit this area called Kussts and these are the source of the Hobs libido and drive to fight. The brood as they are also known have an interest of their own to escape the cavity within the Hob and Fasten or to reproduce. This is always a concern for the Hob and so the groin of a Hob is very often covered to prevent the escape of any within the brood.

The Koracle- The Koracle is an opening in the Hobs abdomen to consume the souls of worthy beings. These are processed by the Koracle the same way a crucible might be used to liquify metals and other ferrous materials. The process of consuming condenses the spirit and it is absorbed by the Hob. Its specific harbour while it inhabits the Hob is along the socketed mass that is the Kusst hive (see Shtulk) and is found in the accruing layers of the Hobs shadow. The process of consuming these souls resembles the soul being pulled through an opened forge door and into colorful firelight.

The Vessittant: This is the horrible heart of a Hob. It is located in the middle of the chest between the stomach and the throat. It resembles a tightly bound series of tangled vines with wickedly sharp thorns and spikes coming from the center and it drips with poisonous ichor. Although a Hobben heart does not beat on its own as a part of a biological process, it has an audible beat that sounds like a drum with rhythms that mimic the beating heart of its intended prey. This helps the Hob to measure the index of fear within its enemy and can relish in it.

Ghoor'Shu:The Speaking Beetle acts as a part of the Hobs body and covers the throat of its hob while it lays in situ. It can be perceived as flesh or can be seen as a chitonous covering with decorations resembling the Beetles own markings. While the Beetle is in this position it acts as the Hobs speaking voice and it acts as the guardian to the brood within the Shtulk. While the Beetle is sent out to be the Hobs messanger as (one of its duties) the place where it usually resides either becomes covered with flesh or can seem hollow and voided.

Kort'yyrrah (The Excandescent Light): A channel point of perception that is located in the middle of the forehead. There is no discerning physical identifier to this channel but may be marked in a special way by the Hob. This is the Hobs direct connection to the cauldron of dark wisdoms and the periscope into the vast compendium of knowledge outside the earthen realms. The light cannot be seen by those without the perception of Darker Visions.

Omicron (of Weight): The Omicrom of Weight is located on the top of the Hobs head and is the blessing of free movement to them. As a Hob gathers weight by the art of the Tsat'tu his form becomes laden and heavy. The Omicron allows the Hob to keep its movements unhindered because of the weight of the souls burden but this does not effect a hob shadow. A hobs shadow will become increasingly heavy during the sixth cycle and as he adds spirits to the Koracle. This channel point is also known as the "Patheonic Crown" although this is only poetically descriptive.

The Hobben Connection to the Undead

"Emptiness is the creator" First Phobettyn Prime

The Dthoum'yyn Deathrisen race was brought about by 9 Hobs known as the Dark Elders. Several strains that were manifested from their powerful efforts were once the pride and pinnacle of Hobben aspect of Kadimah or Magicks. But the Hobs of the age that began to raise the dead soon found that the dark arts were difficult to manage and soon the tide of undead became an scourge and a divisive wedge between the users of the Dark arts and the traditional users of Hobben Schools of Phobettyn Praxis. This rift eventually became a war that engulfed nearly every civilisation and population centre upon the mantle crust. The Age of Keepers is named as it is due to the strident efforts made to develop ways to control the undead tide and to keep it from destroying every living and sentient being. The war was ended with the defeat of the Dthoum'yyn paragons and their subsequent retreat into the shadowy underdark. But this was at a significant cost to the Hobben population during the age.

Hod Stirs.....

The Age of Strident Shifts (our current age) is seeing another recurrence of the dead being risen. powerful ancients from the time of the war and those even older have been call out of their repose. Hobgoblyns of this age are know the lessons of their history and are allied with the new Deathrisen Initiative which is being led by the Dark Elder Tsa'ath.

The Dark Elder Gorgas-Dat'amar-Tsa'ath has again begun the rights known to bring about the various Deathrisen races and is their mortal steward. He is the Elder of the Neckromyc Direction of Mnarr and has a direct connection to Hod The Kalyph of Shadow Chains is held by him and he is currently searching for the other Dark Elders that the Undead Initiative is swiftly brought about.

Hobben Kadimah brought about the Deathrisen race as an attempt to reverse the eradication of the sacred Ddromar. This motivation brought about split of Phobettus and the manifestation of the deity Hod. The Chains of Shadow from that time were extended from the Void And these chains were cast from the Negative aspects and energies and were entwined deeply into the cycles of the mortal planes.

History

Hobgoblyn ages

The Beginning-

Phobettus was a contemporary of the first deities that would learn to create living beings.

He was not interested nor was he easily understood by those deities. But it happened that he eventually blended into the societal pantheon and is still integral to the workings in that realm.

Age of Ddromaar -

Pre history and

57,000,000 - 3,700,000+\- standard years ago.

Known for the perfect relationship that existed between Phobettus and his first creations the Ddromaar (Striders) There were two versions of the same creature created by him-

Dremm-Ddromaar (Striders of the Dream-states)

Created by Phobettus before known time began. The Dremm-Ddromaar were created to find the seven beasts cast from Phobettus during his first deep sleep (ref. Phobettyyn Sakarren 2.3) Seven beasts were created by Phobettus from the realm where dreams merge into horrors. There were seven battles that all ended with the Striders defeating and capturing the beasts. During the battles the Dremm-Ddromaar became corrupted by the beasts and they all became dreadful and dire.

Phobettus did not forsake his creations and so he learned to be their shepherd and he kept them on godlike tethers. And they became as extensions of his will. These creatures cast their dire nature unto those who slept. The Dremm'Ddromaar are the guardians and the dirges of all the states of unconsciousness. These Phobettyyn Striders became and are known to every being and every deity as "Diremares". However, they are now more commonly known and regarded as "Nightmares".

Kalah'Ddromaar (Striders of the Mantle or "Worthy Striders")

These Earthly Striders lived for aeons under the deepest waters of the planet but were pushed up to shallower areas to escape the dangers that exist in the deep. They evolved and over very long spans of time were finally called out by Phobettus, and they emerged from shallow coves and the living swamps and where the waters met the land. And upon the lengths of the land they were truly wild and for the first time in their evolution truly free.

Phobettus then created Hobs.

Hobs were first created to seek out the Striders and to keep them well.

Initial Hobben design was as shepherds for the Ddromaar. Hobs were first created in the aspect of the God that did not speak (ref. Phobettyyn Sakarren 3.2) and so in their early forms, Hobs could not speak. And so to allow them the ability call out to the Striders and to their god each Hob was given an ancient creature from the Phobettyyn Hollow. The creature allowed them to speak to the Ddromaar and to also understand them. These new creatures given to the Hobs are known as a Ghoor'shu or "Speaking Beetle" Hobs were designed to live by the sacred geometry that is set within seven living cycles. And each was encouraged to pass their knowledge on to those Hobs that were inside earlier cycles. Each Hobben life cycle is reflective of the strides that Phobettus took into the cove of creation. (Ref. Phobettyyn Sakarren 3.4)

The name for Hobs during this first Aeon was-

Hob'ddromyyn

And the first significant title for the race was established during this age. The Hobben title "Kort'ddromyyn" and later "Kort" was given to identify the best Keepers or Shepherds for the Striders of the race.

Age of Fetching-

1,230,000 standard years ago

When the Striders became fully land based and unbridled by the fear of what tied them to deep places of the earth they became totally free willed and fled their Hobben Shepherds. Phobettus instructed Hobs to hunt and re secure the Striders. The Ddromaar were hunted by Hobs through a rite known as "The Kalah'Kabhal" (The Great Hunt) . This aeon helped to make Hobs known as the great hunters and every strider was captured but the will of the Ddromaar could not be broken. Hobben hunters of this age began to seek ways to control the Striders through their will alone.

Hobs had more names than can be listed here during this age but were often referred to as Kaath or Hob'korryn for the age.

Age of the Keepers-

540,000 standard years ago

It is during this age that Phobettus discovers the 343 Primes and the sacred ochre known as Dragryyum.

Phobettus found the sacred ochre within what is known as the Negative Plane also known as the Void.

When Phobettus retrieved to ochre it caused him to split and he became also the entity known as Hod (God of the Undead) and Hod remained in the Void and established the realms within it.

This event produced distinctions into the way Hobs define intervals of time.

  • Determinations of time before this event are known as (Bremaar'Prima'Yenn -b.p.y.) Before the Primes were known.
  • Determinations of time after this event are known as (Sakar'Prima'Yenn -s.p.y.) After the Primes are known.

Phobettyyn Sakarren / Hobben Philosophy / Hobben Wye' Sciences / and Strategical methods were established during this epoch.

Kadimah (Hobben Praxis) was used to finally tame and control the Striders.

The Hobs learned to create and improve Hobben Kadimah or "Lucid Intent". The Hobben artifices known as the Dalamus and the Engram were also created and these were from this aeon made and carried by every Hobben being.

The Engram and Dalamus were fully established as a part of Hobben Artifice a result of a war against Deathrisen legions (led by the Demi Lich Ackyrak'kel-Ashe'takesh) that Hobs were called to front. It was also during this age that Hobben term for Corpsers as a name for their main weapon was established. It is the most powerful form that Hobs have been historically.

Hobs were known during this aeon as:

Hob'khadyynn

Age of Plagues-

194,000 standard years ago

Phobettus multi-sects his will and from this age will be known by six other names of six other races. An example for this within The Age of Plagues is where he is known to Goblynoid races as the Goblyn deity Clohaka.

He from the inception of his new form cast out a living plague. This plague infected all parts of the world. The greatest Hobs of this age were each are given 343 insects that would inhabit them and would contain the Prime element known as Dragryyum.

These creatures were known as Kussts. But the Kussts were cast out of the Phobettyyn wilderness and with the craze of Phobettus's new Clohakan form the Hobs could not properly control the Kussts. When the cloud descended it broke the spell of control that the Hobs had on the Striders and the Ddromaar again fled from their Hobben Shepards.

The Hobs released the new Kussts to bring the Striders back under control but instead of control the Kussts followed their nature and burrowed into the Striders skulls. Each Strider was poisoned by the Prime element and all were eventually destroyed by the acts of the then imperious Hobben race.

Phobettus withdrew all of the Hobben Ghoor'shu from every Hob and so for this aeon the race was left without a voice for nearly 200,000 years. They could not speak but they learned in this time to cast out their intentions and thoughts through other means such as Kadimah, servants and other technologies. We learned multiple unspoken powers during this age.

Hobs are known simply as "Hobs" or "Grimm" during this Aeon losing most of the influence that had been gained during the previous aeons.

Age of Strident shifts-

The current age

The loss of the last Phobettyyn Striders created substantial change for the relationship between Hobs and their creator.

Phobettus now deep within the state of dreams and will not speak directly with Hobs but instead through what is known as "The Whisper". This communication is only more readily heard by what he considers to be worthy Hobs. This imperfect communication prevents them from ever truly knowing him. This is a rebuke from Phobettus for the Hobben race as a response from the events that led to the extinction of his beloved Ddromaar. Because of this he is also known to Hobs as "The Lost Shepherd".

This aeon began when the goddess Sifu distracted and seduced Phobettus. Persuading him to help the Goblyn race return to its former glory. This is what binds the Hobben race to Goblyn prophecy and what makes Hobs known in the current aeon as Hob-goblyns.

The current Hobben form is an amalgam of all previous histories. Including artifice, collective Wye' (potential) and choice discretion. But this new form is presented with a costly challenge as they stride both co-dependent and in-dependent (Lurid and Lucid) paths. They have every power afforded and given to their forebears. But most will not learn to listen and so understand the Phobettyyn whisper. It is the charge of the modern Hobgoblyn to fulfill prophecy and to personally reconnect with the often dormant powers that are every Hobs divine resources. Resources that are equal parts blessing and curse.

The Dark Parables

Hobben Grimm

The Parable of Hutt River

The Fallacy of Hope

Renn'Enoch'Tsarryll:

First Grimm of the Age of Fetching. Fen of the macabre lullaby. Harbinger of Phobettus, Gorgas' current Marrah'Kant

The Hob Renn'Tsarryll coveted her Kort'sepherrah.

Her Kort was a prime among the True Path Hobs. His name was Kayyd-Dinn. The two had traveled for a time and became separated. She built a hunters hut in the empty bed of a long dry river and she waited for him. She had hope that her Kort would find her. And she grew bitter that he did not come. A languid and bitter song was heard from the hut.

A cold scourge visited her from under the rocks and she beat it back and asunder. And the rocks began to weep. She knew her Kort would come to her and she grew her hope for this. But he did not come to her. And so her songs began to turn the air and the rocks did not cease weeping. A freshly fed tick came to her door and offered her his still warm meal. But she burst it open with a word and the warm blood fell onto the weeping rocks. But yet the ticks offering was not wasted.

And still she hoped and bellowed inside her pangs of grief.

A creeping vine began to grow up from the spilled blood on the rocks and it soon enveloped the hut. And Ren could not escape it. And the weeping rocks turned a babble into a brook and the long dry river was slowly again filled. And the river submerged the hutt and for many cycles remained intact there. It overflowed and the singing Hob was soon covered by it.

Hope drowned.

Kayyd-Dinn stood at the bank of the new river and watched her disappear.

A spell was cast.

Renn would no longer evolve.

And it was that the hut would only open after her Kort passed beyond his seventh cycle so Renn could not find him and be forever saturate with what she had not allowed in.

Rumoured Connections

In some cultures, it is said that Hobgoblyns are created from the spirits of fallen heroes or divinely chosen worthy beings. Typically they are spirits of the strongest of monsters who have earned the favour and respect of the Gods in their lifetime; but in the end died valiantly in battle and failed in a solemn oath. Because of this they are not able to join their fallen brothers in the afterlife but are given a second chance through powerful magicks.

It is also said by some....these spirits are reborn from one of the most sacred and powerful of all Goblyn rituals. The Goblyn High Witchdoctor combines her mystical energy with that of the land's dominant Shaman to call the heroes' fallen spirits to the womb where they combine and are reborn into the world as a much more powerful creature, having the best traits of the spirits' original forms.

It is worth noting however that there are many ties to Hobben influences. And there are many races that will claim Hobs as connected to them. The truth is something that there are indeed many connections to the other races. This is a connection that most individuals will seldom understand but that most Hobs will easily understand.

Because of this Hobgoblyns come in all shapes and sizes. A Hobgoblyn is usually brought together by mixing with a goblyn but can be awakened from any combination of the monster races: Bugbear, Lizardmen, Kobold, Goblin, Skaven, Trolls, Gnolls, Orcs, etc. Because they cannot know for sure who they were in their past lives, they grow up with respect for all of the monster races and educate themselves on the histories, cultures, and Gods of them all.

When a Hobgoblyn is awakened, the first couple years of their earthen form they are taught by the Priestess and/or the Shaman after entering the village. Growing up around the wielders of magick makes them more likely to recognize other magick users and they become much more resistant to the their effects. It is said that no Hobgoblyn has ever fallen to the effects of magick in battle. This is a short stage in their life, aside from learning about magick and culture from their guardians they also learn how to read, write, track, navigate, gather, and trap. When they kill their first unbeliever, they are able to start their next phase of life as tools of war or move to whatever path that they need follow.

The Hobgoblyn then enters the fighting of the land. They often become adept at many weapons, reflecting their past lives abilities. It is not uncommon for a Hobgoblyn to suffer from nightmares, flashes of images from lives past.

Kort'tsepharrah'phobettus

"Phobettus"

Sakarren 1

Mothered by Nyym (Goddess of Night) Fathered by Koretheix (God of vicious nature)

Koretheix wanted Nyym but she was forbidden. He used the angry wilds to snare Nyym. They had a son.

Phobettus was orphaned by them and placed in the hollow of a tree. He grew in the wilderness and sought to find his way identity himself. He learned to hunt and to make fire and to commune with nature.

He wondered where he came from and asked the question but received no answer. So, he returned to the hollow and it was inhabited by creatures. He captured the life inside it to fill his own void and instructed them to be his sight and his voice. Then sent them out to find answers.

He found his mother And she was forbidden to allow him to know her. But she allowed him to understand the night and the sleep and the states inside dreams.

He found his father and this enraged Koretheix and so he in snared Phobettus in the angry wilds and left him to perrish. This caused pain in Phobettus.

Phobettus could not escape so he calmed himself and slept. And found his father sleeping and in a dream. And he tormented Koretheix. and brought him to the angry wilds and bent his will. He forced Koretheix to teach him to escape the wilds and to be vicious and to curse

Sakarren 2

The Hunger and the Cowl

There was no one other than him inside the wilds, except the life within his hollow. So he went there.

Phobettus slept-

and he dwelled inside deep dreaming states. There he grew strong and he created another realm that was his very own. Sleeping gods that wandered into this realm were tormented there. Phobettus could see into the dreams of the gods. And the unconscious realms became his minds own amphitheater. And Phobettus brought ordeals to each mindful being that traveled within it. During these ordeals Phobettus learned about the manner of the gods and he learned from their dreaming thoughts. He gained the knowledge about what they desired and the places where the gods roamed when they were not dreaming. He saw their hidden fears, where they met, where they made work and the secrets they kept. But Phobettus was not concerned with the matters of others or the cosmos as others knew it so he went back to his hollow.

And Phobettus woke-

His eyes were not used to seeing the light of the universe and so he made a cowl. And it hung on him as he stood upright to look upon the universal realm. And he discovered that seven great beasts were created by him while he slept. And that each of them possessed the torments of his new realm that exists inside the state of dreams. They had escaped him and were beyond the wilderness. Phobettus wanted the beasts for his own and so sent out the small creatures that lived in his hollow to find them. But the creatures could not travel far enough. And he knew the beasts would need to be found by his own efforts. But they were all beyond him and in seven separate directions. He knew that his skills hunting could not track them all.

And Phobettus asked-

a worthy question. But received no answer. Then he heard the sound of the breaking void. And a great comet began an arc over him. He saw that it brought change, life and death with it. And all three of these were unknown to Phobettus. And the unknown caused hunger within him. So he set out to know the contents of the comet. And to make his seven beasts know him. And to make his hunger undone.

Sakarren 3

The Cove of Creation

Phobettus made his way beyond the wilderness,

Wandering with purpose into wilder spaces. Following the arc of the comet, he came upon the cove of creation. Where there was matter and living beings and all of the verve and elements between them.

And Phobettus saw-

That there were three gods together in the cove and he slowed his approach to watch how gods interact.

One was the demagogic.

One was the silent.

One was the trickster.

And he witnessed as he approached them how creation was done. The three gods stood along the margin where the land met the water. And they argued.

The demagogic one spoke about perfection. The silent god would not speak. And the trickster encouraged everything but he sought nothing.

And Phobettus heard-

the sound of a breaking void.

Beyond the cove the great comet of the eldest god found its place in the universal realm. It collided with the aggregate of old worlds. And the fire from it burned but was beyond the sight of the gods arguing in the cove. And the tail of the comet remained as a path to it. And the three gods left the cove without having created but with the traces of creation on the bottoms of their feet. And they continued along the path of the dying comet. And they followed it to find where it's plight delivered it.

And Phobettus strode-

into the cove of creation,

disturbing its surface with the ends of his cowl. His movements churning up the deep layers laid beneath the waters. And Phobettus intended to create within the cove. But there was nothing created. For there was nothing designed. Phobettus left the cove. And continued following the arc of the great comet. And he took with him the traces of creation. And thought about design.

Alchemy in the Hollow: The process that occurs in the hollow by which the hob enters elemental maturity. There are Seven stages;

1: Minerals from the earth mix with Zynicynth and the layers inside the cavity and the Sacred Heptagons of the Ground are formed.

2: The Kussts of the hob stir and fight to fasten and so secrete sacred Dragryyum that permeates the hollow. This is also the cause of an audible thrumming.

3: The sacred Dragryyum penetrates and is filtered by the Engram where it is then drained into the Dalamus. During this part of the process the Engrams unseen light is turned excandescent and absorbed into the Hob.

4: The Dalamus is filled and then extends into the ground where an amalgam is formed to make the hobs first tool (see "Korpser").

5: The Speaking Beetle calls out and beacons the Attratus for its final act.

6: Kussts cease the thrumming as they become aware that the Hobs mind becomes infused with Tak'levash and know that the Fastening is soon to come.

7: The summoned Attratus dances for the last time above the transformative earthen folds. It then picks through the layers into the cavity and make an opening for the hob. Then dies upon the opening and by doing so finishes the processes of the Transmutation.

Bhannt: An enslaved soul that belongs to or otherwise serves a Hob. This title is usually made as a pact with the hob for protection or for supplication. This is a form of a much older rite of soul-husbandry whereby a soul was trapped by the Hob by tricking an ensouled creature to utter the "S" sound in their name and so sealed a curse to bind their soul to the Hob until favour was given. The soul may then be set free or (more likely) used as fuel and burned in the Hobben Crucible also called The Koracle.

The Dark Elders- The Hobs who sought and through their own trials found the prime mortal coils were known as the Acolytes of Bremmen. Each drew to the whisper and the call of the primes and carried with them the hooks of Bremmen (history). The hooks were designed and used to collect and hang the Primes, for it was known to them that none could hold the primes without mortal suffering.

And because they sought and found the Primes they were each made immortal by Phobettus. This was their curseblessing. So that they could keep the Primes safe. So they could know them and so they could teach from them. The Acolytes of Bremmen began to grow crepuscular with time and would because of this and because of prophecy become known as the Dark Elders.

The Dark Elders eventually found each other and they built a temple to keep the lessons of the Prime together and to preserve the Phobettyyn tenets. And the temple was called Thuul. And the temple was the reliquary of the ancient lessons and of Hobben history. And for an entire epoch it stood as the sanctum of the Dark Elders and the sacred hull of the temple's thousand veracious congregates.

The Koracle:

The Koracle is an opening in the Hobs abdomen to consume the souls of worthy beings.

Kore' (Coray): Within

Kort': Slavery and servitude are another juxtaposed aspects of Hobben histories and the social dynamics of the Hobgoblyn race. In the deep past Hobs were the ones to enslave enemies or the foolish whom became overwhelmed with the affect of our Vex of Curses. We were known for our ability to dominate and extort the weaker minded. The title of Kort' was uttered to Hobs the same as a slave might identify one as "Master" in other races. Those days have passed and so has Hobben focus. Hobs have more to accomplish with these persuasive magicks during the current Aeon. The snakes skin has been shed and it has uncoiled and circled to bite its own tail. We now are in many respects the servants to those we would historically make our subjects.

Instead of domineering, we shepherd.

It is preclusive to slavery to know that to obtain the height of mastery you must identify as being indentured. To be the servant of servants is the calling of the most powerful among you. A cast off of our slaving nature is that Hobs are known to still "collect" diminutive creatures like fairies and wisps for our own amusements.( I guess old habits die hard.) Another cast off is the matter of the utterance of the letter 's' in a Hobs name. The ritual of soul husbandry was partially evoked using this letters sound and so Hobben ears still pick this up in reference to the relatable history. The image above is the rune of the Hobben Kort'kulliis. It is a symbol representative of the neck shackle used to secure enslaved creatures of a Hob. You will see it as a prefix to Hobben titles like Kort'Naagloshii, Kort'Plagus, Kort'Sepherrah and so on. These Hobgoblyns will commonly be called "Kort'" by those they serve. It is now a symbol for those Hobs that have taken a title that reflects an ability to abuse control but have chosen to serve instead. To keep well instead of covet. To owe instead of own.

Kort'ybhannt: A being (usually hobben) that has been called to be a neophyte to the Eridution of the Hollow. There can be seven total neophytes per worthy Hob "Kort'" that has moved into and is within the 7th cycle. These students are sent down the paths of the ordeal to secure a title appropriate to their the judgement of their Kort'tsepharrah. These initiants are usually instructed also to act as surrogate for their Kort' to do material biddings during this relationship.

Kort'tsepharrah: A worthy Hob that becomes "as the whisper" during the 7th cycle of life. They represent the Prime particle or Nucleus required for the bonding of energy and information from the extra planes.

Shaka'ath- Chaotic. An ancient word with deep cultural meaning. The old translation is "The destruction of the front gates". This saying is an echo and reference to the fall of the Great Wall of Trazenn. This enormous structure was constructed as a response to the gathering leagues of Abyssal creatures that began to appear and attack the settlements along the old land masses now known as The Jagged Coast. The Hobben vanguard posted at the grand gates of the walls fought against the growing threat from the planes of chaos. The embattled entrance the the Hobben vanguard was eventually defeated when the gates collapsed upon those that were stationed within them and the order within those walls was erased. Shaka'ath was from that time used to describe the loss of that Hobben Vangaurd post and generally when there is the loss of law.

A Hob is proud of this collection and keeps them guarded.

Shtulk: The groin of a Hob. The anatomy of this area goes through many changes throughout the Hobs lifecycle. It is the nest and hive of Kussts that inhabit the hollow and line the areas inside the pelvis. Although in later life stages the flesh becomes as a living anatomy there is the risk of Tak'levash overriding the insects nesting instincts and break out of the cavity. A metal net or chain mail is worn by a Hob because of this.

Shtulk-khep- The covering of a Hobs groin. Usually made of a metal chain or wire this dressing acts as a safeguard to contain the Hobs Kussts during the 6th cycle. It is one of the primary identifiers of the Hobben race.

The Hobben Lifecycle

The Well of Souls

The First Hob Lifecycle:

The Ephemeral Night Mare

That Within - (The Mist)

A monster with favour of the gods falls asleep and has a vision (This is usually a goblyn). They are being dragged down the river of souls. After their desecration at the mouths of Baulk they are not cast back. Instead they find the sickled finger of Sifu herself on the roof of their mouth and are picked out of the river. And then they are dropped into what feels like a corrupted and deeply unending grave.

This is The Well of Souls.

The mist therein torments the dreaming monster and from the wound left by Sifu in the roof of the mouth, it enters their body.

The pain from this causes the dreamer to scream.

The scream is a name.

And it is what makes form from the mist. The form is a Hob whom has now been named and awakened.

As does the dreamer.

The Second Hob Lifecycle: Undone

Attratus

The dreaming monster awakens to find the head of a vulture deep inside their mouth. The bird of carrion, rips out a needle made of the dreamers jawbone. And the bone needle is threaded with the monster's entrails.

Out of this wound, the Hobs mist is purged.

The vulture always dances through this. And the dreamer never survives.

The mist is as the whisper on the mountain. It has a will and seeks out suitable ground.

An open field.

In the hollow of twisted trees.

In a crease of craggy rocks.

Over a current of troubled waters.

It is not moved by wind or penetrated by the light.

When the mist finds its earthen womb, it enters and begins to combine with the elements and minerals withinn it.

The First Stitch

The vulture is summoned and when above the mist drops needle and thread.

These swing in arcs that harmonize with the vultures eviscerant dance. On the seventh arc it pulls tight. This is known as.......

The Undone Undone.

This is the first stitch.

The first of thousands.

Gossamer strands become an encapsulating shell and the elements that surround fill it. Almost completely.

The Hob cannot speak but is now standing. Its sharp shins drip. Its throat and groin are empty hollows but the hob can finally seethe in the air.

The unknown causes hunger. So the Hob devours its own eyes to see the planes beyond.

The drumming starts within. Arms only moments from solidity claw, clutch and are stretched out.

It pushes its toes deep into the earth.

And in the moment that the new moon becomes a crescent sliver.......

an old intrepid beetle becomes aware.......

tymbals of Cicadas strike the air.......

and mist and earth and stitch and flesh.......

are all thus,

enmeshed.

The Third Hob Lifecycle:

The newly forming Hob is still corrupted matter. Mixed parts both will and mineral. Now alive but still without a voice.

The old beetle now crawls and flies

Seeking to be kept again

By earth and by sky.

Picking Scabs

Alone, heavy and now beginning to be covered with a first outer layer.

The first of thousands.

The Hob is now stitched to this plane, and it's quickly hardening and cracking new skin hold that within. But that within is as the Wye and seethes out. And so this layer is painfully peeled away by the Hob. This process is repeated and goes on for some time. Each shed layer shifts the Hob closer to this world and better prepared for it.

Change cannot be slain.

This is why it is said that a Hob looks to die, every . single . day.

The process finally brings the Hob to seem as flesh, blood and bone. But that within still writhes and desires binding.

And as does the Hobben Wye, seeks it out.

The Gathering Cloud

Meanwhile, in the chosen tree an intrepid and newly awakened beetle removes its binds. It has gone through a similar process as the Hob and flies toward the underground cloud.

Three hundred and forty three Kussts are this cloud. They are leavened and guarded by the beetle and so they let it coax them out of the ground. Then they moult in their own cycle. These "Kussts" are curseblessed like their guardian beetle, but they are unaware and hive-minded. Each Kusst produces glandular mercury (Dragrryum) that covers all that they touch. Their collective voice can shake the very ground. And there was thrumming on the mountian.

The Cloud

By the beetle the cloud is led to the Hob and is absorbed through the holes left during its manifesting. They become both the sound and the spawn. The Kussts inhabit the pelvic floor and along the pelvic rim. Expressed mercury passes through the hollow until the next cycle, when the flesh there becomes tangible and organ-like.

Growing Tymbals

After delivering the Kussts into the groin of its host, the beetle climbs through a passage and arrives tentatively at the opening at the hollow of the throat. There it quivers and extends a segmented carapace that binds to become the last internal piece of a real and almost complete body.

It is the "Ghoor-Shu".

The Speaking Beetle.

Speaking Beetle

This cycle ends when first the Hob speaks. This sound carries. Across distance. Through the planet-crusts. And into the planes where grim minds listen. And when;

A worthy animal is startled and becomes imprisoned in unearthly brambles,

A false soothsayer puts on robes and follows a beckoning,

And the great mountain connecting that within, finally breathes in.

Hobs may likely live in solitude for awhile to commune. To dig in deep. But that within will eventually struggle out to find and shelter by their monster-kind.

By stick and by stone.

The Fourth Hob Lifecycle

Imbuing Spirit

In the places where nature is tamed

A soothsayer hears the call for the first time.

They have lied about being called before this. But this call is real.

It fills them. And it leads them away from their false altars.

Away from the believers that they taint. Wearing robes that portray that they are worthy to weaker minds. But hold nothing in them.

They pursue the beckoning. They find way to where the voice called out for them. And it is found at the end of thread and a swinging bone needle. They are made to regret all their misguidances while under the Hobs stitching dance. They will know that they are not aware. And they are slowly consumed as they are taught how to have reverence.

The materials once made with deceit are changed by the swinging needle.

Each stitch is seven.

What is made are simple dressings, but they are powerful. Garments once mundane is now replete with what the false witnessing could not imbue.

And that within finds peace in every stitch.

And it seeps back inside the new folds.

False Prophet

This is the first work.

The first of thousands.

And beginning this work will keep that within bound to the Hob.......

And so the Hob to the cycle- and so the cycle to the path- and so the path to the pendulum.

Unbinding Fear

In the places where nature is wild-

The drum beat is fast and it's sound guides the hunter to the edge of unearthly brambles. They were planted long ago and grew up as spite and as fear. A worthy animal is trapped inside them. It struggles and brays and is cinched deep into the patterns of thorns like many grasping claws.

Brambles are wicked to panic, a caltrop of the amygdala and the snare for the unprepared.

The Hob is silent and sees what is easy to kill.

But,

there is no prize without struggle.

So progress is made with intended steps.......

to the animal that twists away, and so is bound yet tighter. So the Hob reaches and touches the beast with steadfast halcyon hands. The drumming inside the beast slows and it feels the many thorns recede. And the Hob leads the beast out as if the brambles had been cut away.

The Hob and the animal look upon and know each other. They consider slaying the other. But they know that this is not the time.

For there is no sport without fear. And so both mark the other. And both are deeply changed by it.

This cycle completes as the marks on beast and hunter begin to transform them.

When the seven hundred moons are passed.

And when the huntlusting begins.

And when the mountain exhales and lets out the unseen light.

Fifth Hob Life Cycle: Pathfinding

The First Kabhal

The Hob stalks down the lurid path.

This is the path that is known.

The Hob's given mark is both blessing and curse . It harmonizes with the better parts of nature and has grown inside as an unending desire. Lusting to seek out the beast. To become what hunts. The mark has grown outside as an extension of its body. As a beastly apparatus. As that which is used to ruck or to claw or gore. And with a Hobben thought, the speaking beetle crawls from within the hollowed throat. It knows the Hobs intent, has use of the Hob's voice and with a Hobben gesture, is sent to where the lurid path will lead them.

Dire Animals

The beast drags its feral flanks through deep wooded furrows. And casts off a rancor of spirit. On ground and grass. In the creeping air. And in the planes that only Hobben eyes can see. It is no longer with the better part of nature. It is now nature's retched and rabid.

It is now Dire. The animal released from the brambles but it is still imprisoned. Snared inside fearful instincts. And stares out as if it were shackled to the moon itself. The beetle lands by its beastly ear.

And whispers that "It is time". And that "change cannot be slain". The Hob's tymbaled voice strikes the air and the Kabhal is declared. The Dire animal knows now that the hunter comes.

And so they meet again.......

Each at the end of the others eye.......

And there is where they fight.

The Hob dances in a sequence of patterns and arcs. And the Dire animal's instincts negate its prowess as fear fills the furrows.

This is the first hunt.

The first of thousands.

And at the corpses of those killed by a Hob will be birds of carrion that will watch the Hob's dance.

And the birds will learn those dancing arcs,

And the birds will be changed by it.

And though the huntlusting wanes as the Dire beast is slain. There is still an unknown path.

The unknown causes hunger.

And so the eyes of the beast are taken.

And the earth is seen for the first time.

The new-known path is extended out before the Hob as it has always been. And so is dug into with reaching Hobben toes.......

and so is seen with new Hobben eyes.

The Hollow

The Hob ascends the lucid path.

It stretches out as if lined with foxfire. It runs through the wood and through walls that did not exist before the path was lain. And it stretches up a mountain to an indescript patch of ground that emits unseen light.

And the mountain whispers that "it is time".

That "change cannot be slain".

And so the Hob digs in and creates a hollow and enters into the cut.

And finds inside the three artifacts of The Fastening.

The lucid path has led to the vessel of the Dalamus with its intersecting circles and angles.

And it is held...

And the unseen light leads the Hob to the Engram and its occulting waves.

And it is held.....

And it covers the Dalamus as a lid.

The sound of the mountain leads the Hob to coil in and to become hollow and as a vessel.

The whisper is heard.

And it is held........

And it covers the Hob as a dream.

The Alchemy in the Hollow

The Hob quivers and extends itself out. That within unfurls.

And both become the last internal piece of a great arc. And under an indescript patch of ground.......

Change is not slain. And there is thrumming on the mountain.

This cycle ends when the thrumming has ceased.

And when the Kussts begin to stir and fight and to fasten and to feed.

And when the empty vessels within the hollow are full.

And when a bird of carrion rips through the earthen membrane.

And there it dances. Then it drapes its mass and make and mantle over the opening

And dies there above it.

Sixth Hob Lifecycle

Molting

The Kant of Hobben Molting-

Under the carcass of the dancing bird;

Layers of earth are forced through. And are lifted up. On shoulders of a form that has taken in:

The Heptagon of the Ground-

and the vessel and the future and the past and the sound

and the omicron of the weight, under pantheonic crown.

And as sides give way to unsheathe the form that cuts away the cold,

A menace of the seething thing

Comes from within the mould

It's flat of brow and flight of feet

With Tak'levash it's filled.

And, in the middle where they meet

Is held the tool to kill.

It's better known and better said

To have a waking dream

Than have it turn to gore-ish mass

To make the unheard scream.

For now the nightmare comes to fight

And since the grave is dug

The unawakened are the home

For tool and tooth and bug.

Mantling (Practical Descriptive)

"The words of warriors do not matter- The sword of the wise does not cut" Gorgas

This is the cycle that most will encounter the Hob. They will during this part of the sixth cycle follow their path and each hob will have a distinctly different one.

They will become more enhanced as the Mantle of the bird that is sewn onto their shoulders first bristle and then plume. Their beastly apparatus gained through the process of Unbinding Fear becomes fully mature and is made available to use.

They will enter into the mess of other monsters. They will learn their cultures. And fight with them.

They will seek their own culture as they hear the whispers of a Kort'tsepharrah or teacher. The path they are on will become divergent as they find erudition in Hobben arts and practices.

They will add layers to their form. And these layers will have layers. The layers are real and figurative. The Hob will weave into its form patches for their Tsarak-yyll and they will weave themselves into the fabric of monster societies.

This is the prime of the Hobs physical abilities. As the Cloud within them fester for release and by so doing provide surges of primal energy into their Hobben host.

Mantling marks the peak of earthly awareness and can blind the Hob to some of the otherworldly links that it has cause to know.

Mantling continues throughout the processes of Fighting and Fastening. And will afford the hob all that it imbues until the end of the 6th cycle. When the Hob fulfills the arc. And walks the path that extends beyond it.

The Kant of Hobben Mantling

This is the grief in a gristle of song.

This is the might and the right and the wrong.

This is the killing calamitous curse.

This is is hex and the horrid made worse.

This is the figure the freight and the fright.

This is the Hobgoblyn.

The thing that goes bump in the night.

Fighting

Inside "Fear enters where swords cannot" Gorgas

Three hundred and forty three scion insects that pulse with the dark light. They're fighting to fasten. To become multiplied. And to do this they must detach from the pattern of fleshy sockets and break through the membrane of the Hobs skin and perform Cosh'kka. They harmonize with the pulse, bristle in their nests and ooze a volatile elixir that permeates the hive and stimulates their host. They communicate that the flight will be made and that the Hob needs to prepare for this.

The Guardian Beetle can feel the brooding Kussts, undulating, fervent. It sets about its most difficult task. It is the keeper of the hive. But it is also the voice of its Hob. And this cycle of Fighting is where the beetle is called upon by the mass and by the many. As it is called to be the voice is leaves the brood and trusts the wisdom of the Excandescent Light. The dripping product of the brood surge past the Beetle and into the channel where the dark light is. It fills the cortical frame and this produces a sound from the Hob. It is the sound that indicates the Tsat'tu is begun. It is the war cry that announces the killing intent of the Hob and the pacification for the many Kusst. They calm enough that if the Beetle has cause to leave it might not unleash the cloud. The hive await the heat of the soul fire and are focused on this and are dangerously still.

The Excandescent Light now pulses in harmonic rythyms. Manifested in the Hollow it was first unseen but has now become visible. But it is dark. And it is fixed on the forehead and just behind it. A channel connects it to the Hobben matrix where it pulses the influence and inspiration from the middens of otherworldly realms. It is a connection known as "Kort'yyrrah" and is the dark path to understanding. It requires specific discipline to see and to hear into that which is not easily either. It is used to see the worth of the world. And the worth of those in it. Informing the Hob on the meaning of symbology, visions and helps decipher the whisper that is in the Hobben ear. It also helps conceal the Hob and obscure them from maligned magicks. The anatomical function is to help feed the Koracle.

The Koracle is a furnace in the Hobs body for worthy enemies and the crucible of their souls. Located in the middle of the abdomen it opens as the Tsat'tu is finished. When the cull is done. And the product of this fire is like communion to the Hob and like a drug to the bristling Kussts. They are pacified by it and belay their struggle if only temporarily. But they will stir again before too long. And this will cause the Hob to strike out over and again to keep the Koracle full and to keep the brooding Cloud fed. This is the cause to kill that is devine while on the path. To obtain the essence of the killed. And each essence has a weight. And the weight is measured and reflects the worth of the kill. The value of which settles on the Hob like a blanket. Forming thin layers upon layers and it makes the hobs matter dense and heavier.

Fighting

"Outside"

The Tool of a hobgoblyn is called a corpser and indeed that is what best describes what it produces. But it is more. It is an extension of Hobben will. The tool is an extension of the Hob's body. It is the item of the cull. It coaxes the unwilling.

The Tool is the representation of a Hob's future. It is held ahead of the Hob. It is a legend maker and life taker. The force it represents is tantamount to the actions that a hobgoblyn will take.

It is symbolic of the bone needle. In a series of arcing movements, scattered in purposeful rhythms. The pattern it makes is a binding practice to the sewer and to the sewn. It binds those that are slain or wounded forever to the wielder.

Fastening

Tak'levash "To fasten is to fight" The Final Release

Once the Omicron of Weight is burdened sufficiently and the span of the great pendulum's arm swings toward the top of the end of the sixth arc it is for the Hob the time of the Fastening.

Fastening is the time of the fulfilment of a hobgoblyns mortal design and is the moment that is all at once prophecy, promise, purge and plague.

Hobben Rituals

"Every intentional act is a ritual"

Fighting for a Hob is a ritual. There will need to be ritual killing done every day that you cast shadow on a battlefield. This is to engage in your Tsat'tu and feed the Koracle. To do this you must open your awareness and find at least one Worthy target. Worth may be defined in many ways so to keep it simple, it must be a challenge and, it must be "at the end of the others eye". Once a selection is made you go about the ritual:

The Ritual of Tsat'tu- Kinn-Tsat'tu

1. Find your worthy target and meet their gaze.

2. Use your Korpser or Hobben toe to "Dig-in-deep" and connect with the ground.

3. Use a gesture of conveyance and send out your Ghoor-Shu to the intended.

4. Make your intentions known by screaming the incant Kabhal Yyshann! (pronounced: Caabaah-Eeshan)

5. Kill them dead.

6. If there is a trophy, have it.

If there is no death from this instance, the ritual must be done again until successful. With this is done you have kept the Kussts sedate and can be comforted knowing this. For Kussts are our curseblessing. And to quell them allows for still moments.

Hunting as a Hob is a ritual.During events that allow night fighting and role play it will call you to hunt for sport. In this ritual the hunt is led by you the Hob and can include henchmen as hounds and again a clearly identified and Worthy prey. The reasons can be any that induce the hunt but the method is set.

The Ritual of the Kabhal- Kinn-Kabhal

1. Select your quarry. This can be an individual or an entire group. (The reason for selection can be a slight against you or a point of retribution for an ally. Be vigilant for an excuse to hunt!)

2. After the second hour that dusk has fallen, gather your team or prepare yourself.

3. Use a gesture of conveyance and send your Ghoor-Shu to the intended.

4. Scream that the hunt has begun with the incant "Kabhal!"(pronounced Caabaah!).

5. Hunt them down.

6. When the prey is seen for the first time you must again scream the Kabhal! to ensure it is a worthy encounter. Kill them dead.

7. If there is a trophy, have it.

Ritual of Shackling -Kinn-Klycabrynn

Shackling- “Klycahbrynn”

Titling: Kort’ybhannt (Pronounced Kor-eh-bhan) or its shortened form; Korrynn

Kort'ybhannt: A being (usually hobben) that has been called to be a neophyte to the Erudition of the Hollow. There can be seven total neophytes per worthy Hob "Kort'" that has moved into and is within the 7th cycle. These students are sent down the paths of the ordeal to secure a title appropriate to the judgement of their Kort'tsepharrah. These initiants are usually instructed also to act as surrogate for the principal Kort' to do material biddings during this relationship.

“Sickle finger, shackle stare, making irons tight. Slaving you to crescent moon who eats your eyes for sight”

From the chant of sticks and stones

The Erudition of the Hollow: A process of a begotten learner to have better access and explanation for the meanings of Hobben acumen. It is started only when the learner or “Bhannt” has offered to be a subject and responsible to their Kort’. The Kort shall require the Bhannt to be reverent in their regard to Hobben lore, histories and ritual practices in Hobgoblyn culture.

The Ritual of Shackling (Kinn-Klycahbrynn): (Pronounced: Kin-Click-a-brin)

1. The prospective neophyte is called to attend duty and offered to accept a blended path with the Kort’sepherrah.

2. A shackle is made or otherwise elected to be carried by the neophyte as a representation of the bond between them and their Kort’. This item will not be able to be bent or broken. Its integrity and strength are imperative to the rite.

3. The Ritual of Klycahbrynn manifests between the Kort’ and the prospective Bhannt. It is a meeting where the Kort inspects the shackle and tests its suitability for its use in the rite. The shackle is then held by the learner and a series of words are uttered by the Kort’ as the Kort’ stares unblinking through the shackle and onto the neophyte.

The verses of the rite-

“Ah'dah ak videmm d’Bhannt” I am now seen as a servant

“Ah'dah tsurats ak A'videmm” I cannot from now be unseen

“D’Munn Shiiv Deverram E’Occullust” I allow the crescent moon to consume my eyes

“Bek Aktull Emmnnant Resyn Muun" There will be Absolution if I become as the new moon

“Surr T’arch d’Novem, Nape, Talus Interum Pettis Animus” Not bound by septum, neck or ankle but by that within

“Klycahbrynn T’arch Tyk Ssurass Unfekt” This shackle now binds and cannot be undone

"(Subjects name) Kovex T’(Principals name uttering 'S' at the end) Yennyth Kinn-Klycahbrynn” (Subjects name) is now accounted to (Principals name uttering 'S' at the end) through this rite.

4. The neophyte will then find unknown ground and perform the ritual of Digging-In. On that spot, the shackle is placed inside ground under three days and nights during the cycle of the crescent moon. The shackle should after this time be uncovered and removed under the unseen light of the new moon.

5. The shackle is recovered under the new moon and will now never leave the subject.

6. The shackle is hung openly and displayed and is now a representation of the rite for the subject.

7. The rite concludes and the neophyte will begin the journey on the Path of Ordeals as instructed by their principal. The neophyte will now be called “Korryn” or “Kort’ybhannt” by the principal. The principal will be called “Kort” by the student.

Chants

Stick and Stone

Goblyn live by stick and stone

and shelter in the night.

My fire is a human's home

whose soul burns long and bright.

Sickle-finger Shackle-stare

making irons tight.

Slaving you to crescent moon

who eats your eyes for sight.

Goblyn live by stick and stone

the shelter in the night.

We can kill by will alone

but we prefer to fight.

I Burn

Driftin' upward

Gently lifting

Lazy on the wind

Rollin' over

Turnin' slowly

Beginning and the end

Fire is bright

Fire is clean

Never so alive

Smoke is freedom

Flame is mercy

I am free tonight

And I burn

I burn

Stoke the embers

Cleanse the spirit

A prayer in every spark

Feel the lick of

Bad religion

The finish and the start

In the beginning

We were smarter

And the flame was heaven-sent

Through the ages

We got stupid

Now we must repent

And I burn

I burn

Sift the ashes

For reminders

Stony things remain

Tooth and bone

Unimpressive

I have left these things

Because fire is bright

Fire is clean

Efficient and divine

Tooth and bone

Charms and dolls

I am free tonight

I burn

The air

You breathe (X3)

I burn

I burn

I burn (Toadies)

Tak'levash

This is for crimes

This something inside of me

Goes into your minds

Three hundred and forty three

Panic come - Panic keep

The takers toe begins to dig-in-deep

To raise head and stomp the blood

Reproduction

Hobgoblyns do not cover their knees or elbows like Goblyns do unless they have a strong compulsion to do so. They can have children with other races, the child is born as the race of the Hobgoblyns mate. A Hobgoblyn is incapable of having a child with another Hobgoblyn, It is not unheard of to have a Hobgoblyn couple raise another child as their own.
