Seelie Court
Overveiw
The Seelie court is a lore based community in Belegarth. It is one of many Fae (fairy, faery, fey) courts that exist. The Seelie Court is based on both Celtic folklore and modern fae media. The court serves as a portion of three sister courts out of the midwest, the Seelie, Unseelie, and Courtless courts. Seelie serve as the "court of light" or "benevolent court". While none of the courts are inherently evil or malicious, the Seelie court's reputation comes from the human view of its members as less frightening or strange and from the human ability to better understand this court's intentions as opposed to that of the other courts. The courts are not rivals in Belegarth but rather serve as counterparts to keep balance among the fae.
Who are the Seelie Fae?
There are two general ways that a fae may be seen to fit amongst the Seelie. The first is based on character race or aesthetic. The Seelie tend to include more humanoid or "light" races. Fairies, pixies, sprites, nymphs, gnomes, brownies, etc. This may also have an aesthetic component, with the tendency towards lighter, more whimsical or cottagecore vibes. The other potential way of determination is through alignments and character values. The Seelie typically include good and neutral leaning alignments, though with the expected chaos that is notable of all fae folk. These fae are seen more as playful tricksters rather than vengeful or solitary beings. There is overall no set way to determine what court a fae may belong to, if any. It comes to a personal choice of what feels to be the best fit for each individual's character. Anyone is welcome to declare themselves Seelie, and may add their name to the roster. No Seelie fae may declare double for either the Unseelie or Courtless courts, but they are free to be dualy members of the other fae courts, such as the Courts of Seasons.
