WORK IN PROGRESS!!!
It is unknown when Newport became a nuisance to belegrim, mostly because that requires Newport to remember something and do basic addition, which are both very hard for him to do. Eating multiple packs of Newports a day has functionally destroyed the little amount of brain he had before discovering the power of Newports. At the cost of basic literacy, memory, and decency, Newports gave him something all of those prevented him from having. They allowed him to unlock the fiery passion within him to be the most spiteful kobold that had ever lived.

History
General
Before Newport found the power of Newports, or was known as Newport, he was nothing. He was still a kobold but that meant nothing to the dragons around him. That in fact meant that Newport was less than nothing, since to the dragons he was just a puny lizard that couldn’t even create as much as a spark. Because of this Newport was treated as a waste of scales that no respect was owed to. Newport knew he was destined for greater things and ran off, vowing revenge, and to one day breathe fire to take that revenge.
Newport knew he had the spark within him to breathe fire, the fiery passion of hatred was proof enough to him. All he needed was the key to unlock that fire. Newport did not know how to start this journey so he decided to start it a way no one would expect, by making a pilgrimage over to the great ocean he had heard so much about in legends. Why Newport would go to the ocean to look for a way to breathe fire, no one knows. Their best guess is that one of the few things he did know was that water put out fire. With clear motives (and unclear reasoning) he moved off to find this mighty ocean, but it was not the straightforward journey he thought it would be.
Engineering Corp
Very soon after beginning his journey Newport very quickly found a peculiar group of people full of the likes he had never seen before. There was a nearly naked goblin that called himself Leaf. An extremely hairy dwarf that upon closer inspection was also a werebear named Beorn. The twinkiest (and only) vampire he had ever laid eyes upon named Keegan. A suit of armor that seemed to have no operator named Bolg. After meeting more of these equally odd people there, (alongside Jesus) they told Newport that they were a group called the Engineering Corp. They were a group of misfits and weirdos who all had one goal in mind, improving themselves. After hearing this, Newport joined this strange group on the spot. He had finally found a group that he could relate with and would soon call his family.

Newport was instantly intrigued by this strange item he had just found, he had never seen anything quite like it. From its strong pungent aroma to its striking colors, he knew what he needed to do next. He put the pack of Newports into his mouth, just like he had done so many times before whenever he found something new that intrigued him. But unlike all of those rocks, daggers, and people that had intrigued him before and had been put in his mouth, this time was different. He didn’t just taste the cardboard and paper he expected, his mouth erupted in a burning sensation he had never felt before. This burning sensation awoke him like he had never been awoken before and it felt as if he just opened his eyes for the first time in his life. In that moment he realized he had found what he had been looking for, he had not just found the key to unlock his spark, he had found his life's purpose.
