Council of Cool Talons
Membership
- The Council of Cool Talons is a joking but earnestly intentioned honorary group within the Belegarth community. It exists to formally recognize fighters who bear, have borne, or are widely known by the name Talon, and who have demonstrably avoided the unfortunate reputation often associated with the name.
- While many fighters across Belegarth history have adopted the name "Talon", the name has developed a lighthearted but persistent stereotype of being attached to fighters who are, put bluntly, bastards. The Council exists to prove that this fate is not inevitable.
- Membership is granted only to those Talons who, through consistent deed, conduct, and community impact, have shown themselves to be cool as hell. Otherwise one must fight and defeat the head of the council in an honorable duel.
Purpose
- The Council of Cool Talons serves several unofficial purposes:
- To distinguish cool Talons from, well, the other kind
- To celebrate fighters who lead by example rather than ego
- To provide a running joke that nevertheless reinforces community values
- To reclaim the name Talon from its worst associations
- The Council has no authority, power, or formal recognition, and loudly insists that it does not care about this at all.
Membership Criteria
- There is no application process. Membership cannot be requested, campaigned for, or demanded. Attempting to do so is generally considered evidence of unworthiness.
- A Talon may be recognized by the Council if they:
- Demonstrate consistent sportsmanship on and off the field
- Contribute positively to their local or greater Belegarth community
- Avoid being a problem, starting drama, or living the stereotype
- Are broadly agreed upon by the council to be, in fact, cool
- Being skilled is optional. Being decent is not.
