Just to get things clear are wooden weapons allowed in the games? If you put foam on them I mean.

You should ask on the forums. But yes. Bamboo is a semi-common spear core (it's not good for slashing). Generally wood cores are to heavy/dense to use as a core, or they are the opposite and will snap really easily.
