A pirate operating out of [[Galahad]], Calico apparently appeared from nowhereNo one seems to know who he is, where he came from, or what his motivations may be (with the notable exceptions of drink, plunder, and womenfolk).  He wears the coat of a Naval officer though it is unknown if it is his own or procured otherwise.  It is highly implied that he was, at one time, Captain of a ship, the fate of which, along with that of the crew, is unclear.  He is known to have an Irish brogue at times, especially while inebriated, which may provide a clue as to his origins.  He can also be heard speaking broken Italian to maidens who don't know any better and singing shanties and drinking songs to/with all those in earshot and is known to trade a song or two for liquor.  Calico, while seemingly uninterested in the politics of Belegarth, exhibits fierce loyalty to those he allies himself with, notably [[Toph]] and [[Welshie]] of [[Galahad]].  Calico is the current captain of [[The Cerberus]].

<!--William (Liam) Patrick Caldecott was born on March 3, 1693 in Belfast, Ireland to Thomas Caldecot, a wealthy English nobleman and sugar merchant, and Anne Caldecott née Butler, an Irish woman of noble birthHis father, having coveted a military career but hampered by a club foot, set Liam on a path of military service from a young age.  At the age of six, he began fencing training in rapier, rapier and dagger, small sword, sabre, and hanger (cutlass) as well as studies in Latin, Spanish, French, and Italian (though it appears only the Italian stuck)At 11, he was made cabin boy aboard one of his father’s ships; sailing from the ports of Belfast to Kingston Harbor, then to the Mediterranean to trade sugar and rum in Athens, Palermo, and Naples.  He continued this trade until 1709 when, at 16, his father’s wealth and influence earned him a position as midshipman upon the HMS Pembroke.  Naval life and discipline did not suit Liam and he received several reprimands and punishments for various small infractions, however he was able to prove himself a hard worker, fierce fighter, and clever tactician; showing great skill and daring in the Siege of Barcelona.  For his actions, he was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to the HMS Cerberus under the command of Captain Edward Lawrence.  Capt.  Lawrence and Lt. Caldecott immediately met with a clash or personality: Lawrence’s desire for strict discipline at odds with Caldecott’s more lax but pragmatic nature.  While at port in Cornwall, Lawrence’s 14 year old daughter Emily became smitten with Caldecott, though he rebuffed her advances.  Spurned, she went to her father claiming the she and Caldecott were going to elope and that they had already spent a night together.  Incensed, Captain Lawrence had Caldecott brought back to the ship in chains and locked in the brig with the intention of marooning him in the Caribbean.  At some point, through means unknown, Caldecott gained command of the ship and showed up in Key West, Florida in search of a crew.  There, a drunkard named Gawain, having little understanding of nuanced pronunciation of surnames, began to call Liam by the name Calico.-->

A pirate sailing from The Iron Forest, Calico first appeared in the public eye in 1715, after sailing his ship, The Cerberus, into Key West in search of a crew. Little is known about him other than his apparent Irish heritage, noble upbringing, and current occupation as a pirate and bard. It is strongly suggested that he was once a naval officer, though this is disputed. He can often be heard speaking broken Italian to maidens who don’t know any better or singing shanties and drinking songs to/with all those in earshot. Calico, while seemingly uninterested in the politics of Belegarth, exhibits fierce loyalty to those he allies himself with, notably Toph and Welshie of Galahad.

When not fighting, drinking, or singing, Calico can be found exhibiting all sorts of gentleman-roguery toward the fairer sex, flirting with lady archers, and instilling deep-seated Stockholm Syndrome in female hostages. Curiously, it is rare that he makes good on these advances. There is, however, one well documented romantic liaison of his known as the Kingston Incident.

As the storm finally blew over, the crew returned to the deck to find Calico gone, the tatters of his coat still lashed to the ship's wheel.
