Shade
Race: Garden Pixie (race)
An errant traveler without true home. If you find this traveler, you might be bestowed a gift. Maybe a fight. Maybe nothing at all. Or you might just catch her staring at some shiny thing. Who knows, honestly.
Lore
When you wish upon a shooting star, do you truly know what you're wishing on? Would you want to know, if you could? Or would you keep yourself blind from it, to simply admire the majesty of the night? There are many things that people see when they see these shooting stars. Some see a childish ritual- "make a wish!", they'd say, with eyes full of wonder and hearts full of hope. Some people may see a spectacle- a gift from the gods, an omen, a warning, a promise. Everyone focuses their attention to that streak of light shattering the pitch darkness. No one questions when it fades beyond sight. No one thinks of what it must feel like to be that- glittering, golden, then gone.
Do you ever wonder what happens when a shooting star lands? What then? Where is the audience when the once skyward gaze settles for something more grounded? From the sky above, to the earth below. Is it a wish incarnate? Or a being with a wish of its own?
Shade recalls such a star, once. Of what it was like to glitter amongst the heavens before a fall scorched pretty wings. She knows what happens when those once beautiful stars fade out and where they land. The earth that she once fell upon became her garden. It is such a strange world down here. Oh, and such a stranger feeling yet to look skyward and see home. A home she cannot reach.
For now, anyways.
You can usually spot her by the chip missing in her ear- wounded in an autumnal excursion (Okfest '24), the wings on her back, or by the occasional odd glow in the dark sigil, donning a coat of arms that seems to whisper knowledge that Should Not have been. Donning a mask that one would assume to blind her, she wanders aimlessly in search of her home. The mask has become her sanctuary in a world so far removed from what she knows.
