Core Values
House of M's first and foremost focus is Compassionate Accountability
It is important to us to maintain a high standard of leadership, which takes a level of accountability to truly uphold. That said, it is important to also remain compassionate to our fellow leaders, volunteers and ourselves. As we are all human and need grace at times; as well as realistic goals so we do not burn out. It is important to keep in mind a balance of responsibility and what it means for your community to rely on you, but still give space for our imperfect selves. Everyone makes mistakes and that's okay, as long as we are accountable for our actions and move forward in such a way as to grow not only ourselves as individuals, but to grow the community at large as well. In that we can grow greater bonds and educate ourselves about each others strengths and weakness so we can set each other up for success rather than failure. The goal is to grow better leaders that aren't afraid to learn from the mistakes that happen in life and can take ownership of those mistakes without becoming defeated by them, or hiding from them altogether. A culture of honesty and growth is far more beneficial to the community than one that is not willing to recognize that as humans we aren't always perfect. People tend to feel they must try to hide and/or deny their missteps in an attempt to save face when there is no grace given to learn new skills. Where as a little bit of compassion can turn that tendency on it's head and people are more likely to ask for help when they need it and learn from teachable moments when they know they won't be demonized for it.
Every inevitable misstep is a learning opportunity.
