When the Moon Held a Queen Hostage

On the 4th of June, during the twenty third Armageddon, the realm of Mirkwood held a ball, which both the Seelie Queen, Riswynn Desvanas, and the Crone Queen of the Unseelie, Trinian wished to attend, however neither was able to.

A mutual friend, Rint, offered to go in their stead, carrying a scroll of both their names and titles. When he arrived, he passed the scroll to the herald to announce, then walked away without retrieving the names and titles, including his own. Realizing what he had done, Rint went to a member of Mirkwood, Everclear, the courtless fae of the moon, to retrieve the titles. He made a deal for the retrieval of his own titles, by leaving Everclear alone for the rest of the night. However, he was not able to retrieve the Queens' titles.

With her name and titles in jeopardy, the Seelie queen, Riswynn Desvanas, reached out to Everclear to open negotiations for their return, for which she offered invitations to both the Belgarth Cheese club and the Faewilds Larp server. The courtless fae argued that the names and titles were a gift of hospitality, as is customary when attending parties. In fact, if they were not, Riswynn would be in violation of Mirkwood's hospitality, as she sent no other gifts. The queen, however, pointed out that, as she did not attend the party in person, no gifts of hospitality were required. She also added that, during the Cheese club event, which she ran and hosted, Everclear partook in tasting food which, while it was technically a communal offering, passed through Riswynn's hands, making it technically hers.

The negotiations paused for a time, at Everclear's behest, and showed no signs of continuing any time soon. To force his hand, Riswynn publically announced that she would be holding the Cheese Club invites hostage, until her titles were returned to her. When negotiations began once again, she argued that making them wait was rude and disrespectful. In protest, Everclear pointed out that fae such as them were immortal and that time had no binds on them. After all, what is a day to the moon. The argument became one of cultural differences as, though they are immortal in nature, the seelie court contain some of the smallest fae, such as pixies and wisps, who all live their life at a very fast pace.

After much negotiation, it was decided that Riswynn's name and titles would be returned to her, in exchange for a public statement that invitations to the cheese club invitations had been opened once again, due to Everclear's returning of the titles, as well as personal invitations to both the club and the Faewilds LARP server.

That's the Spearit

On a battlefield in the realm of Carthage, two teams gathered in preparation for a fight. On one of these teams, Alphir, the half-born Fae, noticed a glaring issue in their allies. There was not a single polearm present on the entire team, whereas the enemy team had two. Indeed, each member of Alphir's group wielded only a combination of swords, shields, and daggers. To remedy this, Alphir did what anyone would have done and picked up a spear for herself.

It is important to note here that Alphir is not a spear fighter. She may have been trained in how to wield the weapon safely, but that did not translate to much, in the way of skill. Of course, she did not mind. After all, the only way to learn how to use a weapon is to bring it onto the battlefield.

The fight began and both sides met in the middle, clashing as foam met foam and blades met flesh. Luckily, both opposing spear-users were at the same section of the battlefield, allowing Alphir to hold them both off at the same time. An enemy spearman stepped forward, striking an ally's shield and leaving their leg open for Alphir to take.

"Leg 'em and leave 'em" The voices of Alphir's teachers rang out in her head as she noticed the opening. This was her time, this was her chance. If she could just strike that leg, she could even the playing field and give her team the chance they needed to win.

She struck, as quickly as her body would allow, but she made a fatal error. Not being used to thrusting weapons, she underestimated the level of grip she had to maintain on her weapon. Instead of single-handedly giving their team the edge they needed to achieve victory, Alphir threw her weapon to the ground, completely missing her target and leaving herself defenseless.

Noticing her blunder, an enemy shield-user claimed Alphir's spear as their own and used it to kill a member of her team. Just like that, the line began to falter. Against three spears and a formidable shield line, with no weapons long enough to fight back, Alphie's team was slaughtered one by one, though her team did manage to slay many of the enemies.

And thus, Alphir, unarmed and defenseless, was the only fighter left on her team. All three spears surrounded her, circling like sharks as they eyed their helpless prey. Wielding her own spear against her, an enemy struck, grazing Alphir's arm, but giving her a chance to grab onto its shaft with her other hand. Before she could attempt to wrestle her weapon back, a second spear disabled her arm, forcing her to let go. At the same moment, a strike hit her leg, forcing her to the ground.

The next thing Alphir knew, her other arms and leg had also been disabled, leaving her not only without a weapon, but without even a single limb to fight back with. The three spearmen looked at each other, a wordless exchange passing through their eyes, an idea shared at the same moment, by all three. One by one, the spearmen placed their weapons against their heads and called "dead."

Alphir had achieved the victory she had sought for her team, but at what cost? The humiliation she felt that day would live in her heart for the rest of her days, reminding her of one key rule every time she picked up a spear.

Whatever you do, do not throw away your only weapon.

A Soul for a Soul

Once Upon a Time, a long time ago yet not long ago at all, there was a cat named Storm who lived on a pirate ship - Serenity in the Sunhawk fleet. She was Captain Kili's favorite companion, he having stolen her away from a rouge Roman who had been granted passage on Serenity a few years back.

Storm never left her Captain's side, a loyal and faithful guard cat. She was known for stealing his things - his hat, his coat, that sword he *really* needed for this battle. In her mischievous ways, she eventually found herself on a hit list.

Ulog was given a hit against this cat, and he took it. "Killing her was necessary" he would say. But Ulog was fair, and felt if he took a soul from Kili he should give one in return, for he did not want to spoil the relationship he had with the Sunhawks.

Storm took up mantle as a ghost, still mischievous and roaming Serenity on patrol. But in return for taking her life, Ulog gave Kili a soul more valuable than any - he gave Kili back Althaea, his daughter who was tossed overboard of Serenity as a child and washed up on the faelands to be found and raised by the Unseelie Court.

Ulog would go on to become Grey Ringtale Jibberknife Jr, King of the Unseelie.

Althea would go on to become Althea Greywing, Maiden Queen of the Unseelie.

Slaying the Monster

On the Fields of Armageddon XXIII, there was an event taking place that was simply titled "Legendary Boss Battle." Our hero Alphir, upon seeing this event, looked for more details on the schedule, but came up short. The event's description simply described the lore of the event, how a terrifying and evil beholder would be wreaking havoc and that it was up to the heroes of defeat it. Cautiously intrigued, Alphir decided to attend.

Upon arrival, she was greeted by a strange sight. As it turns out, the terrifying and evil beholder was, in reality, about seven guys, each with different weapons, all rubber banded together. Challenging this fearsome beast was none other than a small child, wielding a buckler and a dagger. The child hero literally ran circles around the beholder, as it swiped at the child with its many weapons with a level of comedic slowness that allowed the child hero to both have fun and not get smacked in the face by a sword about four times his size.

After a hearty battle, the child hero was defeated and the next hero stepped up to the plate, this one a more apt challenger. The crier announced the new hero's name, as they charged into the impossible battle without an ounce of fear and was promptly slaughtered. The line moved up, the next hero was announced, and on it went. Eventually, it was Alphir's turn to slay the mighty beast that was roughly seven dudes and a rubber band.

It was at this moment when Alphir looked down at her hand and realized that instead of her sword being in it, like she had expected, she was wielding a dagger, roughly the same size as the child hero's. She gulped and stepped up, as the crier announced her name as the latest to challenge the great and terrifying beast.

Seven men looked her up and down, sizing up their latest prey, no doubt judging just how seriously they would have to take this upcoming fight, in order to be victorious. In response, Alphir held up her own weapon, which appeared barely larger than a toothpick, compared to the spears and the glaves that the monster wielded. In a moment of inspiration, an idea struck our great hero, an idea which just might give her a fighting chance.

"I'm a rogue!" She shouted, crouching down to sneak "You can't see me!"

Much like they had with the small child they took pity on, the monster played along. Several of them turned their heads back and forth wildly, feigning ignorance as they gasped and audibly wondered where Alphir had gone.

To Alphir's surprise, her master plan was working. Using the cover of an open field in broad daylight, she snuck closer to the monster, until she was just barely at the limits of their range. It was now or never, do or die. Our hero knew that if she did not strike now, she would surely perish. She stood up and bolted towards the great beast, screaming as she swung her blade wildly, but the beholder was ready for her. It was as if they had not truly been fooled by her genius "I'm a rogue" ruse, and had seen her the entire time! She only managed to kill roughly 1/7 of the beholder before being slaughtered.

The First Awakening

As of recently, many of us Underrealm fae have woken from our slumber, while the rest have remained awake. A long time ago, the Veil was at war from those outside of our home.

During this time, much of our kind were still young, curious and naïve. Although we were meant to stay hidden, some of us wished to break that once we found out how to leave the realm. All was well, all was lovely as many of us gained more knowledge and wisdom of the realms outside.

We were a curious and joyous kind. Until those who sought power captured our kind and turned us into weapons for their own ends. In return, we discovered more about ourselves. To those that have been captured and turned into items of power from swords to armor, have turned to fury and madness, cursing the wielder. While we were full of light, darkness dwelled within us.

The ritual in which we were created from, held many mysteries that we would soon discover. This was our beginning of our true selves or perhaps the discovery of who we forgot we were. The Veil would soon be known as the in between of the Fae Realms and the Realms outside. It is where all of our power originated from. Wild and free. We have many tales, but for now this will do.
