A polearm is a Class 3 or Class 2/3 two-handed weapon that is not a sword, club, or mace, particularly one where most of the weapon is either handle or incidental padding. In practice, polearm usually refers to a glaive or spear between 6 and 9 ft long, but can also be used for various other large weapons, such as halberd or large hammer.

Due to differences in handling and deployment on the battlefield, the term pollaxe is gaining favor as a general term for Class 2 polearms under six feet long and pike for polearms over 10 feet long.
