Hammer
Overview
A Hammer is a mass weapon, relying on the weight of impact to deliver crushing blows.
History
Hammers developed as a common tool, still used on workbenches today. It gained a more widespread use as a weapon beyond improvisation when it was found that massive crushing trauma could kill an armored knight without having to pierce the armor.
Hammer construction
Usually built with a heavy, strong core of fiberglass or PVC, much of a hammer is covered with incidental padding. The striking surface of a hammer is offset from the core, and is usually significantly wider than the core (the distinguishing feature of the hammer.)
Hammers in Belegarth
Often interchangeable with an Axe, similar techniques are employed. The primary difference coming from the extra mass of the hammer adding to its' effectiveness to break shields, while slowing it slightly which lessens the "hook" effect of the axe.
