Background
Zanark was born to a wealthy lord and his wife. He was born on the exact date of the 7th era, the zanarkian era. Hence he was given the name zanark in honor of being the first child of the new age.
But being born on that day was not such an honor that some would think. For then on he would be hunted and cast out by all. An old legend is told of how an angel will be born on the day of the start of the 7th age. He will be the first of is kind and will bring with him the power to save the human race through the salvation of the gods. And deliver them from the evils of the world and acend into heaven.
But after many centuries and the curruption of the churches power the true legend became lost and curupted to tell a tale of a most evil being decendian to earth and reaking havoc among the human race, until none were left.
Three centuries ago, a elite group of fighters formed and awaited the day the child would arrive. Their training was brutal, some of it went beyond what normal humans could take. But in the end they were the best, the strongest and the fastest. They were known as the Akkadians.
Ironicly the father of of the child was also the founder of the Akkadians and therefor the strongest. The father knew what had to be done and summoned the Akkadians even though it pained his heart to do so. When the mother cought word of this she stole him away and fled into the Sagori mountain range that coverd Pangeia, but not before Grease, the general of the Akkadians fired a curse that missed and struck Zanark's left arm, leaving it black and lifeless. For six long years they ran from the Akkadians, they could do nothing but scaveng for food and from what they could steal.
By the time Zanark was seven they had finally made it out of the mountains and too the far east. Zanark's mother hid him away in an abandoned mill outside a small village. Leaving him with nothing but a stange curved sword. She told him "your actions will decide the fate of this sword, and it you......make the right choice" With those last wise words she turned back to fight the Akkadians alone.
For three days and three nights Zanark waited for his mothers return, but she never came. Finally on the forth day a woman who was out collecting herbs for her dying husband spotted a young boy trying to catch a rabbit with a sword much larger then himself. She invited him to stay for a while and fed him. The husband was not pleased by this at all, for they had just lost their own son from the same sickness that the father was now dying from. Displeased by the wife for trying to replace their only son, he withdrew from Zanark and ignored his very excistinst, and commanded that the wife do the same. A year had gone by since the day his mother vanished and all was not well, the husband was slipping into the final stages of the sickness and grew weaker with every passing hour.
One day on his was home a local man from the village spotted a blood soaked child hidden away in a nearby bush. Its was Zanark, the man checked him over but found no wounds, he and a few other villagers raced back to Zanark's home, fearing the worst. When they got to the door they saw something that would haunt them to the day they passed. The walls were drentched with blood and tables were either smashed of flipped over. There had oviously been a struggle, one that the old cupple had not won. The villagers first blamed Zanark "he always carries that sword with him" they said, "and those eyes, there not at all like I have ever seen" another added. His eyes alway did bring the worst out of people, they would constatly change from blue to green. These thoughts were soon discarded when they found no blood on the sword or in the sheath and concluded that it was still to big for him to wield. They never did notice the blood soaked cloth in the corner that was without a doubt used to clean the blade.
After being outcast from soceity for two months and eating nothing but what he could steal, the ruler of the nearby city took pity on him and welcomed him into his home. He knew of Zanark's background in the village but was determined to change his fate of being a scavenger. The man was named Talniska Megime, founder of the famed Megime clan of elite assasines. Along with Talniska's two children Kotojinn, and Saysha, Zanark was to be trained and live out the rest of his life as a soldier of death in the Megime clan. Although he was never granted the name Megime, Zanark showed he had an elite talent to for the job and quickly surpassed kotojinn and saysha who had begun training long befor him. Over the next seven years they did nothing but train, there whole lives revolved around their traning. And in time the three of them became very close, especially Zanark and Saysha, they seemed so close and started to spend all of there free time together. He felt she was the only person that had ever really loved him besides his mother. She understood him and treated him like a person, Kotojinn and Zanark were also close but he knew that Kotojinn always resented him for the shear fact that he was stronger. Another year had gone by and graduation came, now all of them 16 they were given a final test to prove they were ready. The missions were classified and they had to do them alone, Zanark's was simple, collect a scroll that had been secretly placed in an enemies fortess.
"Easy" he told himself, and it was, Zanark obtanied the scroll without haveing to lift a finger. Getting out of the fortress was different. He was confronted by a large amount of warriors and as his sword which came to be named Abraxas, tasted blood for the first time in seven years. It awakened something deep inside him. He soon disposed of the soldiers in the most violent matter, the death of the men did not feed his strange thurst for death. He quickly targeted other nearby villages, some that had no warriors to try and fend him off. For the next three days Zanark did not return, but when he did, he returned with the scroll and not a drop of blood on him, and no memory of it. Talniska had cought word of a Megime soldier slaughtering villages in the area but kept it to himself. He knew of Zanark's past with his formal parents and of what great skill he posseced, he was also very obedient, so loosing him would be great loss for the clan. Three years passed by and the stange thurst had not risin again. Talniska kept Zanark out of missions that required him to use his sword, even though he demanded to go on the same missions as everyone else, claiming that he was better then any of them and didn't understand why he was being treated that way. He came to the conclusion that it was because he was not Talniska's true son, an outcast, a freak.
Now 19 Zanark knows nothing about being an angel because his wings have not yet grown,or about what happened on his graduation misson. And finally after years a whole year of arguing with her father, Talniska allows Saysha to marry Zanark. Ready to both put their past behind them they settle down in a small cottage just out side the city. Kotojinn had been gone on a misson for the past two years so he did not attend the wedding, and sadly no one had heard news from him for over a year. After two months Talniska came to see Saysha with a speceial request misson. A kingdom to the south had been attacked by a man in a black cloak, the king had requested that Saysha be the one to capture the man, for she had worked for the king before. At first she denied but after several days her father persuaded her. Zanark was furious, and forbid her to leave in fear of her life. Against his will two days later she cought word of the mans wearabouts and fled in search of him. When Zanark finally demanded that Talniska tell him where she was he took off to find her and bring her home.
After ten days she finally confronted the man, it was an elite Akkadian named Sage, after years of searching the Akkadians persumed Zanark had died int he wilderness and had taken up jobs as mercenaries to survive. Saysha had no knowlage of the Akkadians and rushed into the attack, only to be stabbed in the chest with his sword after sevral hours of fighting. When Zanark finally cought up he found his wife gasping for air in a pool of blood. He ran and picked her up in her arms. There they held eachother for the last time, and she told him that she had been with child for about a week. Then with her last breath, she told him she loved him. That was the first time Zanarks wings were revealed and his sword from then on was stained black with all his hatred, pain and anger that he had felt through out his entire life and all his memories from his former attacks returend. Of course Talniska blamed Zanark for her death, claming if only he had been there sooner, if he didn't marry her, if he was out of their life, she would be alive. Enraged by all the blame being placed on him because he knew Talniska was the one to blame, he drew his sword and lunged at Talniska. The guards surrounded and detained him, Talniska then orderd him to commit suppuku. On the night of his orderd suicide, Zanark used the knife to kill the guards and steal back his sword. The entier city was destroyed in his rage. Only Talniska remmained, but his death came quickly with the new powers his sword gave him and his wings. Then a familiar face appeared, it was Kotojinn and then came the fight of rivals, the fight of brothers, the fight of true enemies. Kotojinn emerged victorious in the end, but something was strange, Zanark died with a smile on his face.
Kotojinn took Zanark's sword and fled far west to a growing vlilage that was led by a man named Grease, the former General of the Akkadians, trying to live out the rest of his days in peace.
