Weighing Weapons
The weighing of weapons went into effect in April of 2006 due to new minimum weight requirements required by the BoW.
Methods
Postal Scales
These scales work best on class 1 weapons and some class 2 weapons. These types of scales are nice because they can be very accurate in the sense that some have 10ths of ounces on them. Some also can reach up to 3 pounds or more, much like the scales in the produce aisle of the grocery store. However, because the weapon must be laid on the scale the weapon may not be weighed evenly resulting in a slightly higher or lower weight than actual.
Fish Scale
This method can be used on all weapons that have weight requirements. There are spring loaded which give a rough estimate in ounces and pounds and there are also elctronic fish scales which may be more accurate. One of the distinctions of these scales is that the weapon must hang from the scale so gravity is the only force acting upon it.
