Lore

Before the Breach - Itza - Waygate

The Saurus and Skink within Itza stood rank and file at the opened gate. Thalin stood off-right center of the cadre of white lizards nearest the portal. Zealous speakers and battle hungry lizards stare down the hungry maw that had brought wanton destruction to many home cities. The gate hummed ominously while priests held vigil to keep the gate under a close eye, and short leash. Silent arbiters and priests kept to rituals to keep unseen chaos at bay.

Today we take push back against the creatures of the void. A rousing cry echoed through Itzas enormous plazas another white lizard speaks of the Great Ones, Great Plan. The lizards collective righteous fervor grew as the shared animosity between Soteks children ran rampant between the vast rank and file. Thalin, the cadre he was attached through, and the amassed collective of Soteks children charged head first into the illuminated portal. With a spear in hand, and a lantern grasped in the other, he plunged into the portal.

The Rupture

The connection broke … something terribly wrong happened. All he could remember was standing guard for the priests conducting their rituals near the gate. Whatever had occurred, Thalin was separated and thrown beyond Kaab. He awoke on a coastline with a mouth full of sand and grime. He was alone. None of Kaabs denizens within eyeshot. His memory blurred as he began attempting to recollect what happened. To no avail, his memories betrayed him.

The Coast

A lone standing turret lie in a marshland surrounded by motes of blackened water. The air, salty and putrid lie heavily over low lying cat tails and algae. The lone structure had many an inhabitant, all of which after some deliberation took in the awkward behemoth. The ragtag band of mercenaries, and brigands scoured the nearby lands. The group run into a neighboring county and became integrated into the ranks of The Land of Warriors. Human and monster fought side by side over and over again. Battle suited Thalin, and the denizens of Blackwater. Those in The Land of Warriors and Blackwater trained together towards a massive battle … a battle for a ring. Many gathered, and many tournaments and trails were had. The ring was married off to the victor and Blackwater returned to their lone turret in the marsh.

Years passed, and the denizens of Blackwater became a collective chosen family. In the time Thalin lived there, a neighboring human city destroyed the standing turret and displaced the troupe. Blackwater split and half migrated north beyond the arid deserts, and coastal cliffs. The split was difficult for many that say behind in the ruins of that lone turret. The North proved both a boon and a curse for Thalin. The mental leaps and bounds of being away from home and astray from Soteks Light proved to be the most treacherous for the saurus. The heavily forested north was home to self proclaimed "gods" and those considered rangers of the wood. While they could never be what Blackwater was, the newfound friends were welcome indeed. Thalin befriended the gods, befriended the rangers, but most importantly - The Horde of a Thousand Faces. The chaotic mess of beings piqued Thalins interest with excessive shenanigans, and wholly devotion to debauchery. Thalin joined the Thousand Faces under the careful watch of a Gnoll, but still felt as if he needed to prove his intentions. These intentions would be tested as Thalins vision looked east.

The Flat

Years spent in the north left Thalin wondering, and gaining a wanderlust that took him eastward. The horizon was at equals with the sky and earth meeting perfectly in all directions. A Hobben took Thalin into his home in The Flat. Their time together would be beneficial to both. One would commune through the void and the other would push a container around for the Hobben. The Flat still proves to challenge Thalin, his eyes set to Horde. For Kaab was a distant objective that wasn't in logical reach. The Horde of a Thousand Faces beckoned him forward in the fall … for he will attempt to awaken.
