Full Story
Tsalviña, the youngest of Pissran’s children, the most picked on and ignored. She was considered helpless at a very young age when her siblings learned of her misfortune, the only one of Pissran’s children that could not fight and could not bear children to continue her mother’s legacy of khajiit. She was not as sly as her siblings and she could barely make a batch of Skooma to save her life. Watching her brothers and sisters become great warriors and story keepers, mothers and fathers, Tsalviña felt ashamed of herself for being kin to them, so she left her family to go on a journey in order to find peace within herself. Before long, she found herself lost in a desert, surrounded by nothing, with no skills to create shelter or find food, she was determined to find a way to survive, no matter what it took. As she lie in the sand, freezing and starving to death she prayed to her mother, begging for help, she refused to die knowing her siblings saw her leave in shame. She began to hear a voice, believing it was death coming for her, she cried out for anything she could do anything just to survive the night. She began to realize she was hearing her mother telling her to imagine the thing she wanted and it would be hers, Pissran needed her daughter to know that she was stronger than she believed. Tsalviña closed her eyes and imagined a fire in front of her, raising a shivering paw as though to reach out to the fire, she suddenly felt heat. Tsalviña opened her eyes and realized there was a real fire in front of her. Believing it was Pissran answering her prayers, she again closed her eyes and imagined food in front of her, placing her shaking paw against the sand and again felt heat, opened her eyes and realized it was a steaming plate of meat. She cried out in relief, thanking Pissran for all she had done for her.
Tsalviña continued her journey for several days before realizing she was beginning to starve again, she once again prayed to Pissran for help as she had before. Telling her mother she needed help so she wouldn’t die, but her mother did not respond this time. Tsalviña felt as though she had been abandoned by her mother, but was determined to make it through the night as she once had before. She closed her eyes and imagined a large plate of meat and a tall mug of Skooma, and as she had before, she opened her eyes to find exactly what she imagined was in front of her. Overwhelmed with joy, Tsalviña began to realize that her mother was trying to tell her that she could do more than she knew. She then started to try doing different things, she fashioned a bed out of sticks and then raised her hands and imagined a soft bed, as she opened her eyes she knew it was she who had their mothers’ power. She had always known her mother was powerful, but none of her siblings had power, so why should she, now she knew better.
Several years later, as Tsalviña developed her power to what she believed to be full capacity, she excitedly began her journey home to where she knew her siblings and mother stayed. As she wandered home, she came across a child wandering in a village and noticed something strange about him, he didn’t smell human at all; in fact he smelled khajiit, but didn’t look it. She asked the boy who he was and he said he didn’t have a name, that he was an orphan and was never named. Tsalviña couldn’t place why he smelled so strange, so she befriended the child and told him of her journey and discoveries. Fascinated, the child asked Tsalviña if he could join her on her journey, Tsalviña agreed. They travelled together for a fortnight before Tsalviña let her curiosity take over. When the boy fell asleep that night, Tsalviña got close to him, closed her eyes, placed a hand on him, and smelled him again. When she opened her eyes she shrieked, realizing she had turned him into a khajiit. The boy woke up and saw what she had done, terrified he asked why she did it. She told him she didn’t mean to, it was just what she saw when she smelled him, he didn’t smell human, he smelled like her and she couldn’t shake the feeling that he was supposed to be a khajiit. The boy settled after panicking for several minutes, and thought about what Tsalviña had told him, and told her he never felt like he belonged as a human. She realized she not only had the ability to create things but to create khajiit. To her excitement she now knew that just because she could not bear children did not mean that she could not create them out of those worthy. She then told the child that she had an idea, he followed her outside and watched as she closed her eyes and imagined herself as a human; the child’s eyes spread wide and he screamed that it worked. Opening her eyes with excitement Tsalviña knew she could now disguise herself. The child realized his new calling and wanted to be free, so Tsalviña sent him on his way and continued her journey home to her family.
After months of travel, Tsalviña found herself at home where her family still was. Her siblings welcomed her and asked where she had been for so long. She asked her family to go where their mother was so she could also hear Tsalviña’s tales. As she told them of all the hardships, her brothers and sisters faces were covered in horror and concern, but she could tell her siblings still could not accept her. She was not someone they trusted. Tsalvina decided to leave her family in search of new life. Before she left, Pissran pulled her aside and told her of children she had before her, and explained that if she finds the Raksasha she will find her place.
