About Us

The Ebon Light was established in 2013 after the fall of The Order, formed by many previous members of the Order.

Ebon Light seeks to fuel the fire that drives us to excel in whatever passion chosen to pursue; combat, crafting, lores, character, etc. The path you take in The Ebon Light will never be easy, but should you succeed, you will come out the other side closer to the strongest version of yourself. Everyone deserves to be the Hero of their own story.

The Story of Ebon Light

Some time ago a monastery stood. It was not so much a place of worship, but a monument of servitude. This monastery held many warriors unified under one banner and called themselves The Order.

The Order grew strong with many victories and its inhabitants became ever prideful of the good they carved out of the world. With these triumphs, many of The Disciples came to be complacent. As time passed there was leniency given to those who sought to take refuge in the monastery. Wickedness cloaked by the guise of human flesh slipped through the untended cracks and as seasons came and went it manifested, unnoticed, in the great halls.

Beneath the cover of moonlight this evil took material form and conjured gateways that allowed gruesome creatures of infernal tongue to pass through and gain access to the otherwise warded monastery. As the servants of Ethnessa slept a violent fury besieged their holy spires. Torn awake by the sound of their brothers anguished screams, brave men took up arms in a cataclysmic battle that would sunder the stone they pledged their lives to protect.

Many perished in the malevolent flames of voiceless glory. Those that managed to escape with sacred relics and texts were scarred by what they had endured, both physically and spiritually.

The lands beyond the monastery had been ensnared by evil's grasp. All who fled were scattered to the winds in the wilderness. Hope was lost and the light they once carried could only be heard in unsung hymnals.

A group of survivors hunted for a new home. Under their weary breaths they vowed to one day return to the monastery and right the wrong that cast them away. A considerable amount of them were taken by the endless nights of struggle and woe, of starvation and illness. So very few remained that endured but those that did were greatly rewarded.

At the center of a barren wood an untouched spring illuminated their path. Shrouded from the eyes of men by a dilapidated castle, it was kept clean by this forgotten conquest of nameless soldiers. It was here in this keep that the survivors found refuge and rebuilt what was lost. They became a pale light in the towering void of darkness; The Ebon Light.

Civilian

Civilians are not considered official members of The Ebon Light and are usually petitioning to join the unit. They are welcome to live within the walls, enjoy the food, fight with us, have a place to stay but do not yet know the secrets of The Ebon Light within the monastery. They may adopt black, brown and gray into their garb but do not bare orange or the insignia. See Table #Civilians

Militia

Civilians must pass a vote and subsequently a trial that will be determined and administered at the next event following the vote. Once passed, they achieved the rank of Militia and are considered official members of The Ebon Light, however they may not vote. They wear a black belt flag with the gray insignia and may adopt the color orange and bare the insignia on their garb/gear. See Table #Full Members

Sentinel & Scout

Militia may attempt the next trial along their respective path (Melee/Ranged) after a certain period of time. Upon passing the melee trial, they will achieve the rank of Sentinel and upon passing the ranged trial, they will achieve the rank of Scout. They will receive a black belt flag either the sentinel or scout symbol on them. These ranks are equal and grant voting rights on The Council. Those of this rank are expected to guide lower-ranking members to improve and grow within the unit. They are also expected to help within the foam community as well. See Table #Full Members

Elder

Elder is the highest-ranking member within the unit, the leader. The Elder is responsible for counseling with leadership and responsible for ultimate executive decision making within the unit.
