Neb grow bigger an faster den other younglings. He better at find food, he look longer an harder. He climb trees and steal eggs and catch squirrels. By dee time he half grown he almost as tall as adults in his tribe. He never get big though, from day he born he always lean and looking hungry, skin stretched tight, eyes set way back behind cheekbones, thin and green.

When Neb still little Goblyn, one of dee (many) things his tribe be fearing is a killer boar that live in forest around volcano. It massive and scarred, with bitter white tusks and hate for all that live. It hunt and harrass Goblyns, breaking huts, killing them, destroying traps and fish-nets. One night Neb is out hunting with other young Goblyns. They be pertched up on boulder, to be safe, but Neb not want to sleep on cold, stupid rock. He climb down to sleep in nice woods. They tell him he stupid, and that boar is going to eat him, but Neb say he not care.

It almost morning when Neb wakes to sharp huffing noise. He open his eyes. In the bushes he see two eyes gleaming in moonlight, and tusks like swords, glowing silver. Neb stand slowly as boar huff again, breath steaming. Other Goblyns wake up and is screaming at Neb to run! or, climb tree! The boar bellow and charge. He almost to Neb when Neb scream and lunge at it. The boar is shocked, and starts to skid to a stop. Neb punch boar in dee nose as hard as he can. It break, and blood burst all over Neb and dee ground. Squeal in pain and shock. Neb an boar be standing eye to eye. Smell of blood fill boar’s snout, an suddenly some old memory wake in it, some instinct passed from his ancestors from days long gone, an it looks at dee lean creature standing before it with burning eyes and knows that this is dee most dangerous of all creatures. It squeal again, and turn and run for its life. It run and run, slobbering and panting its terror, it run until its heart explode in its chest. And Neb laugh.
