A usually wool or flannel tartan garment, worn much like a skirt around the waist of Scotsmen and Some Irishmen. The kilt commonly is woven in the tartan of the Scot's family or clan. The kilt is the traditional dress of Scotland and is still worn today by some of the Scottish and men and women with Scottish heritages. Kilts are generally worn with a sporran (a pouch formally made with beaver tails) on the front.
