Class System

From BelegarthWiki

All weapons in Belegarth belong to a certain class. This class distinction determines the damage that each weapon does. In conjuction with the Color System, the class system helps battle run smoothly and limit confusion concerning the affects a weapon strike with sufficient force.

There are five classes of weapon in Belegarth:

Class 1 Weapon

Marked with blue tape, these weapons deal one hit of injury to any legal target area that they strike. Any weapon swung one handed is a class 1 weapon. Examples include: short swords, flails, and all class 2 weapons swung one handed.

Class 2 Weapon

Marked with red tape, these weapons deal two hits of injury provided that two hands are on the weapon when contact is made. In practical terms, a two handed swing from a class 2 weapon negates armer provided that sufficient force was applied. If swung with one hand, the weapon in question is class 1. Examples include: Great Swords, Glaives.

Class 3 Weapon

Marked with green tape, these weapons deal one hit of injury if thrust one handed and two hits if thrust two handed. One handed thrusts, however, do no damage to an armored target area. As with class 2 weapons, two hands on a class 3 weapon cause legal strikes to negate armor. It should be noted that both one handed and two handed strikes from class 3 weapons only pierce limbs; pierced limbs do not count towards death by limb loss. It is possible to have all four limbs pierced and still be alive. Examples include: spears, daggers.

Class 4 Weapon

Class 4 weapons are head-legal missile weapons, and are sometimes marked with yellow tape. Javelins are required to have a yellow cover, while arrows are easily discernable as missile weapons and are generally marked for pass/fail with whatever color tape is available. When loosed, class 4 weapons that strike head-first negate all armor except helms. Like class 3 weapons, javelins and arrows cause piercing damage which does not incite death by limb loss.

Class 5 Weapon

Class 5 weapons are head-only missile weapons. Class 5 weapons do no damamge to any other part of the body, and do not affect armored portions of the head. Rocks are the only weapon that fall into this category, and while they are considered white by the Color System, it is not necessary to mark them exclusively with white tape.
