Despite being a devoted son to his Father, Castiel was cast out of Paradise for over-zealousness, cruelty, an eagerness to punish the wicked, and the betrayal of his Garrison. Castiel was a member of the 53rd Garrison, responsible for watching over the Earth, protecting the Lord's chosen peoples and prophets. In a dispute over the punishment of an earthly sinner, Castiel murdered a fellow Angel in his Garrison, Uriel. For these unforgivable acts, he was banished by his Father.

After banishment, Castiel sought new ways of serving what he believed to be "just." He took up the Earthly way of the Sword, striking down those he considered evil without mercy, regret, or a second thought. He became so invested in his cause, he began to consider himself a manifestation of God's true will, going out of his way to exorcise demons, destroy the wicked, and purify the Earth.

His methods are cruel and unusual, merciless, and relentless. He has currently associated himself to the Ohio group, Umbra Imperium, in order to "cure" the Emperor of the region from a demonic possesion, which has developed into a symbiotic relationship. Castiel intends to either perform a thorough exorcism, or destroy the demon's host. In his eyes, the path to the solution matters not, as long as the demon is destroyed in the end.

However he realizes he is watched. A being, what it is he cannot tell, known as "The Faceless Monk" keeps a constant eye on him. He plans to investigate the matter further, after he has finished with his current task.
