A Kensman serves as mentor to a Swordbrother, who seeks to one day become a Kensman.

During a minimum of two years of mentorship, a Swordbrother is expected to:

1. Master 3 Combat styles to be decided by Kensman/Swordbrother 2. Master 3 Non-Combat skills to be decided by Kensman/Swordbrother 3. Learn to read/write Elder Futhark fluently 4.
