My name is Alpin Mac Hamish, but I am known as Shyft. I am of the highlands, born to Hamish Mac Donal and his wife Judith. They were goodly folks who raised me on hard work and heroic stories. I was taught to take pride in my strength but to use it to help others. My life was a good one, but I was restless.<br>
So I left my home and began to wander. I became a warrior and served under many lords, but always I felt incomplete. I would wander under the light of the stars and moon, searching.<br>
One night when the moon was full and the night clear I came upon a pack of wolves. At first I was afraid for my life, I was not so doughty a fighter as to defeat them all. But then they spoke to me, not in words as you or I do, but inside my mind in images and concepts. They told me I was to be one of them, and in fact always had been but did not know it. Having found this new home I ran with the pack for a time. I developed my skill with the wolf-speech and learned of their ways. I was happy with the wolves though I never lost my humanity.<br>
I traveled the realms, moving between the world of wolves and the world of men. In search of balance between man and wolf, I joined the warrior lodge of Abraxas and began to walk the Eclipsed Path.
