History

The Reemergence of an Empire

After attending The Battle for the Ring III, and realizing how important it is to have a good sounding easy to say realm name, members of The Principality of Athalbrand determined that a name change was in order. A long and strenuous process of brainstorming a new name for the realm ensued, and eventually, the name Saracor was arrived upon by a nearly 100% majority. And thus, in early January of the year two thousand and eleven, the realm of Athalbrand -under the same banner- emerged anew as Saracor.

The End of the Reign of the First Grand Duke

As quoted from the coronation announcement by Ian "Vercingetorix MacPherson" MacLeish, First Grand Duke of Athalbrand:

My untimely departure to UCSC (Salamandastron) has forced me to take certain actions which I would rather not go through with. Unfortunately, I see no alternative as my absence and position as realm leader simply would not work to promote a better future for this realm.

As of the end of The Departing battle of Ian and Matt (Battle #18) I, Ian "Vercingetorix MacPherson" MacLeish, The Grand Duke of Athalbrand, did step down from my position of power, and surrender the throne to my chosen heir.

And thus:

I hereby bestow upon Brandon Bell the full power of the Grand Duke of the Principality of Athalbrand. May he rule with wisdom and justice.

• I will not be leaving the realm, and will continue to attend battles on occasion.

• Just as when a president gives up his position to a successor, when the realm leader gives up his position to an heir, he does not lose his title. He does however lose his power as the realm leader. And as such, i, and any realm leaders who follow in giving up their throne to an heir, shall retain their title, but not their power.
