In recent years, it has become more common to include all members of Horde present at the event, whether that totals more than 10 or not. It has also become common to include a 2-on-1 or even 3-on-1 fight after defeating the [[Izareth|High Commander]] or [[Commanders|Commander]] present. This is largely due to the increased caliber of fighers the Horde has been recruiting in recent years. We can't have it be ''too'' easy, after all. The difficulty level is all determined by the Feral's sponsor, as well as the acting Commander, if they are present.

(hah...it so true!)

The Horde Barrel

Several units have different ways to join. Some have time periods, some have trials, some have votes, others barrel in. The Horde is no different in this aspect. The Horde barrel is not however a way to haze new members. When a new monster comes to Izareth or another Commander, it is normally accepted and they start fighting with the Horde. The sponsorship period is referred to as being "Feral". This time period shows the dedication, strength, and will that the Monster is willing to give to the unit. Once the local Commander feels that it is time, they get all the Horde together. Ten fighters are selected, either by the Commander or the fighter. (Depending on how Izareth feels at the time.) The ten line up from the most recently blooded monster to Izareth. (The High General is always last if he is available. The local Commander can step in if necessary.) The monster fights his way up the line. He fights each Blooded Horde member in turn until he beats each one. After the barreler loses five times to one fighter, they can choose to bypass them (although this has never happened in known memory, monsters too proud). Again, this is not to haze. The member has already proven themselves ready to fight with the Horde. This is the Horde showing respect to that monster... by beating the hell out of them. Once the line of monsters has been beaten, it is that member's responsibility to seek out all the other members to get their fights from them.

This is why the Horde fights sooo well together.

This tradition is a variation of the same ceremony started by House Hellhammer. Although many changes have been made by both parties, the spirit is still the same and respect should be given to the original group to coin the term "Barrel".
