Mace

Overview

A Mace is an impact weapon which derives its' killing effect from the mass of the weapon rather than a keen edge. Almost identical to a club.

History

Derived from the club, the mace is generally a weapon created from materials to accentuate its' destructive nature, and is often enhanced by additions such as flanges.

Mace Construction

Padding in a cylindrical fashion around the core. Sometimes constructed with fins called "flanges."

Maces in Belegarth

Used as an alternative to swords ("flat-blades"), maces are often interchangeable in style and technique. The biggest difference between maces and swords in Belegarth is that the sword has a "flat," which does not cause injury. In some designs ("bats"), everything but the handle/pommel can cause an opponent damage. However if the mace has a large section of courtesy padding (which most maces do), the courtesy padding can be grabbed by an opponent, which they cannot do with a sword/flat-blade.
