Guild Vassal

What is a Vassal?

A Vassal is a Belegrim that has chosen to study a skill or area of service under the mentorship of a Guild Master, Mentor or Guild Journeyman. This is a optional trial period similar to becoming a page or retainer for those curious about becoming full-fledged Guild Apprentices or those wishing to study under a current Guild Journeyman.

Becoming an Vassal

Those wishing to become a Guild Vassal may approach any Guild Mentor/Master or Guild Journeyman and request to become their Vassal. Upon taking a Vassal, please contact your guild chairperson and inform them so that proper records may be kept. Journeymen must consult and acquire the approval of their mentor before taking on a Vassal. Masters, Mentors, or Journeymen may approach individuals about becoming a Vassal. Becoming a Vassal is not a guarantee that the Vassal will become an Apprentice under that mentor. At such time as a Vassal desires to become an Guild Apprentice they must still fill out an Guild Apprentice application. Those wishing to become Guild Apprentices should speak to their respective Guild Council and fill out the following Artificer form or the Seneschal form.

Vassal Garb

Any member who has been taken as a Vassal may wear a Vassal Belt Flag in addition to their Guild Belt Flag.

Vassal Belt Flag:

• Required: symbol of the guild the person is vassaling to.
• Suggested: the colors of the mentor.

This belt flag may continue to be used and modified as the student progresses through the ranks if desired.

Vassal Requirements

Requirements for both guilds for Vassals are much the same. They are listed separately here for future clarification or differentiation, should that be required as the Guilds grow and develop.

Please note that previous experience and work may be used to fulfill requirements, at the Council or Mentor's discretion. The requirements listed at each stage assume someone has little prior knowledge, as the system is designed to allow people of all experience levels to learn and develop.

Artificers

• Approved by Journeyman's Mentor (if applicable)
• A Journeyman or Guild Mentor has agreed to oversee their development as a vassal.
• They have made or acquired a Vassal's Belt Flag as specified and approved by the Artificer’s Council.

Seneschals

• Approved by Journeyman's Mentor (if applicable)
• A Journeyman or Guild Mentor has agreed to oversee their development as a vassal.
• They have made or acquired a Vassal's Belt Flag as specified and approved by the Seneschal’s Council.

Chroniclers

• Approved by Journeyman's Mentor (if applicable)
• A Journeyman or Guild Mentor has agreed to oversee their development as a vassal.
• They have made or acquired a Vassal's Belt Flag as specified and approved by the Chronicler's Council.
